Top Films of 2009

Being a self confessed film buff i love nothing more than waiting for the new years arrivals and more importantly waiting until the summer blockbusters. In certain cases i look forward to the previews before the film almost as much as the film itself. There were some great films in 2008 but i must admit although we haven't finished with 2009 yet this year has produced some outstanding efforts and what follows is a list of what i think have been the standout films so far of 2009.They are in no particular order as just having to pick my top ten was hard enough without having to put them in order of greatness.

Taken

Taken

Lets start with one of my favourites, Taken is quite a short fim starring liam neeson as an ex spy who's daughter is kidnapped in france and he goes on a rampage trying to find her using all his deadly skills.Starts off slow but from the moment she is kidnapped it grips you by the throat and doesnt let go.Brilliant

Transformers 2 Revenge Of The Fallen

I really enjoyed the first movie so when they announced the second i was overjoyed,it doesn't let you down, sure the script is a bit weak and the acting isn't going to win Oscars but it is a visual treat. It is essentially the main character Sam Whitwicky is being hunted down by the leader of the decepticons.Great film switch off and enjoy.

The Hangover

Very good comedy set around three groomsmen who during drunken antics lose the groom, what ensues is a frantic retrace of their steps in order to find out what happened the previous night.

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

Never watched any of the Harry Potter series until i watched this and found it surprisingly enthralling, good acting a convincing and well played out plot and will now find myself watching the previous efforts.

Star Trek

Never been a Star Trek fan,I'm a bit of a Star Wars geek though i will confess,so wasn't overly bothered when this was announced but when i noticed that zachary quinto and simon pegg were in it, Quinto being famous for his role in Heroes and simon pegg a comedian actor from the uk i had to have a viewing,it didn't disappoint to be honest, you don't need to be star trek fan to like this movie,it had a good plot and good acting.

Watchmen

Set in an alternate 1985 it surrounds the activities of a band of superheroes who have been disbanded by the government, but when one of their own is killed they form an alliance and hunt the killer down.A bit deep and one for the fan boys me thinks but is a visual treat and didn't let me down.
