Top 10 sites to see in Las Vegas!
67Freemont Street
This is the original Las Vegas strip! The street is covered with a jumbo tron type roof with light shows every hour after dark until late. Oh don't forget the neon cowboy! You will be amazed by the lights and side concerts on the street. Very entertaining.
The Stratosphere Tower
This 1,149 foot tower overlooks the Las Vegas strip. Located on the northern edge of the Las Vegas strip. At the top of the tower you will find a revolving restaurant and rides. On is called the Bigshot and the other The High Roller. The elevator ride takes you to the top in no time at all. This site can give you a great view of all of Las Vegas.
New York New York Hotel & Casino
Just the outside of this hotel is amazing. The architecture that went into this building amazes me. You have replicas of New York City buildings such as the Chrysler Building. They have a scale version of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn bridge. The only thing that does not look like NY City is the roller coaster that runs along the outside. However, the roller coaster does look like a taxi cab!
The Bellagio Fountains
These amazing fountains are located in the pool right in front of the Bellagio hotel. Stick around for their amazing show. The waters dance and fly every 1/2 hour until 8pm and then every 15 min. from 8pm-12am. They are corigraphed to music and will not disappoint you.
The Eiffiel Tower at Paris Casino
This is a replica scaled version of the Eiffiel Tower in Paris, France. Take the elevator to the top to dine in the restaraunt at the top. Walk inside the Casino to see how the legs transition into the building architecture. It is said that the best view of the Bellagio Fountains is from the top of the tower.
The Luxor
The Luxor hotel and casino is a pyramid in the Nevada desert. According to some it has the brightest light on earth at the top of it. Visible from space?? Outside and in this hotel is amazing. It has many Egyptian decorations ranging from a sphinx to its tomb like statues just inside the main entrance. Take a ride on the inclinator and see if you can feel it moving as you go up. This is just another amazing piece of architecture in Las Vegas.
The Lions at MGM Grand
Real live lions!! These lions lounge and groom as passer by gander at them. There are times where you can walk through the glass walkway and be walking just a few inches or feet from the underside of a living lion. You will view two at a time but there will be several through out the day or week rotated in and out to keep them well fed and happy.
The Volcano at The Mirage
Need to warm up? Just wait till the sun goes down stake your claim in front of The Mirage hotel along the sidewalk next to the strip. Be ready now when you start to hear the polynesian music. That is the cue for the volcano eruption. As the music plays fire dances and spreads. Building more entensity as it progresses until the finally! Boom eruption!
The Las Vegas Strip at night
I know this is a stretch but seeing the Las Vegas strip all lit up at night is just insane. Just think of all the light bulbs it takes. Neon, LEDs and light bulbs everywhere. Walking the strip at night is a must in order to take in all the lights and amazing sites. Every casino has it's own theme and lighting scheme. Just walk until you can't walk no more. It will take you a few nights to see it all.
Hoover Dam
Ok, I know it is not actually in Las Vegas but 30 miles is close enough if you consider the size and history of this site. Just a short drive south of the Las Vegas strip is Hoover Dam. This was once the largest concrete structure in the world. Just think of all the lights in Vegas. Where do you think the power is generated for all of those lights? Also at the dam you can see the construction of the new bypass bridge they are building. Take a tour of the dam to gather all the history of this site.
How about that list?
I know I did not put numbers on the sites. That is because I will leave it up to you to figure out what is your number one favorite. I have enjoyed them all. I know I have also left off a few but there are so many sites to choose from in Las Vegas. A few I could have added are the M&M store, the Treasure Island pirate ship sinking and the little guy dressed in green outside of O'Sheas casino. Let me hear from you on what others you would have included or what you think of my list.
