I really miss when MTV used to actually be music instead of reality TV.

But where is the old Aerosmith Alicia Silverstone videos? I'm surprised they didn't make the cut. 'Crazy' was my favorite. Fiona Apple's 'Criminal' and AIC 'Man in the Box" were great too. And of course, Nirvana, my all time favorite.

I might have to go buy some old DVD's online to watch some old music vids. They bring back memories...

#50: Alice in Chains "Man In The Box"

#55: Fiona Apple "Criminal"

Aerosmith "Crazy" (didn't make the cut, but one of my favorite vids!)

Wow. I love looking at the list, but as always, wonder at some of the rankings. How did "I want it that way" by Backstreet Boys beat out some of those in the lower 50's? They must have done it by radio plays or something. Oh well, at least Britney can be proud she got in the top 10.

Is it just me, or did they stop making good music when the 90s ended? Long live the 90s! :)

Awesome hub! I missed it on TV, but reading through the list definitely brought back some memories. It's just funny when you read through it that there are songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Loser" (two of my all-time favorites) on the same list as MMMBop and Ice Ice Baby. LOL. It's a diverse list :)

Cool list - but how do you tell the difference between 85 and 75. Aren't these ratings totally subjective?

Steiff Bear  says:

This is the perfect application for tivo.. Record it all, fast foward through the commercials and you can get through all 100 in less than 2 hours...

this list sucks. VH1 sucks. these guys promote awful music. backstreet boys on 3rd place. I think it shows how bad the list and the people in VH1 are.

Josie  says:

This list was a load of rubbish and proof that MTV and VH1 just ruins what is good about music. How did Nsnyc beat Radiohead?? Where's Pulp, Blur, The La's, Stone Roses, Placebo ETC? Why is wonderwall so far up the list and don't look back in anger not even on there for Oasis??This list is utter shite. Fact. Only about 5 of the songs on it deserve to be on the list. This compliation is so shameful, the 90's was an excellent decade for music, on of the best and yet some idiots who apparently know so much about 'great' music comes up with this. I mean backstreet boys THIRD?? They were CRAP, their songs were for 8 year olds. How anyone can think this legitimate or correct is beyond me.
