I really miss when MTV used to actually be music instead of reality TV.
But where is the old Aerosmith Alicia Silverstone videos? I'm surprised they didn't make the cut. 'Crazy' was my favorite. Fiona Apple's 'Criminal' and AIC 'Man in the Box" were great too. And of course, Nirvana, my all time favorite.
I might have to go buy some old DVD's online to watch some old music vids. They bring back memories...

Brings me memories too. great hub.
Thank you
There are a lot of memories. A few I have not heard of. Thank you
I totally agree that MTV has gone way over the top with Reality TV..don't get me wrong i love reality TV but not on a station which is supposed to be dedicated to music!! Grrr
Great HUB !
regards Zsuzsy
Umm where is Common- I used to love H.E.R?? One love by Nas? Crossroads by Bone thugs n harmony?? runnin by Pharcyde? Juicy by Biggie? dear momma by Tupac?? why is nothing but a G thang so high?? its not even 20 in best rap songs ever...
Great tunes. I agree that MTV has gotten too far away from music and more into reality. Miss the old days.
A nice stroll down memory lane. Thanks
Wow. I love looking at the list, but as always, wonder at some of the rankings. How did "I want it that way" by Backstreet Boys beat out some of those in the lower 50's? They must have done it by radio plays or something. Oh well, at least Britney can be proud she got in the top 10.
Is it just me, or did they stop making good music when the 90s ended? Long live the 90s! :)
I completely agree! :)
Great Hub!
i miss when vh1 and MTV actually played video's. especially head bangers ball
Awesome hub! I missed it on TV, but reading through the list definitely brought back some memories. It's just funny when you read through it that there are songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Loser" (two of my all-time favorites) on the same list as MMMBop and Ice Ice Baby. LOL. It's a diverse list :)
very cool
Yes it is always relaxing to listen these GREAT bands forever....poseidon
great list of songs, brings back memories of the good old days.
Cool list - but how do you tell the difference between 85 and 75. Aren't these ratings totally subjective?
This is the perfect application for tivo.. Record it all, fast foward through the commercials and you can get through all 100 in less than 2 hours...
this list sucks. VH1 sucks. these guys promote awful music. backstreet boys on 3rd place. I think it shows how bad the list and the people in VH1 are.
This list was a load of rubbish and proof that MTV and VH1 just ruins what is good about music. How did Nsnyc beat Radiohead?? Where's Pulp, Blur, The La's, Stone Roses, Placebo ETC? Why is wonderwall so far up the list and don't look back in anger not even on there for Oasis??This list is utter shite. Fact. Only about 5 of the songs on it deserve to be on the list. This compliation is so shameful, the 90's was an excellent decade for music, on of the best and yet some idiots who apparently know so much about 'great' music comes up with this. I mean backstreet boys THIRD?? They were CRAP, their songs were for 8 year olds. How anyone can think this legitimate or correct is beyond me.
I just love this list. Man have I got some shopping to do. Thank you. Mon.
I think I saw this. Never agreed with Backstreet Boys being at #3 though.
Nirvan is one of my favorites..
Jabari and josie know what's up.
The list is total BS. I would rather hear what 100 songs the thinking public likes.
Zombie Pop Culture!
ah........the 90's. Better than today's music in my opinion.
i was born in the 90s great stufffff.
Hey, thanks for taking us down memory lane!
nuthin but a g thang is one of the few rap songs i actually like. It deserved to be this high on this list.
A perfect score of 100 congratulations rb! I hated VH-1's list but I love your hub and furthermore would love to see YOUR favorite 100 or even 50 songs!
Show me what ya got!
You are so much more interesting than VH-1!
ahhhh I don't know about 100 songs, I could maybe do 25 along the lines of alternative rock.... or 10 best videos.. hmm...
Well I have to choose (from the list) Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge"... I still often ear it. Great hub!
That was something for me. Thanks for your list!
Pearl Jam was the best grunge band that came out of the 90s. I still dig their music.
It should've been called "VH1's 100 most popular songs of the 90's" MMMBop a GREAT song? Uhhh...
