The 5 Best Baseball Players

 5.  Justin Morneau-  Morneau is a first baseman for the Minnesota Twins.  Morneau won the AL MVP award in 2007.  He is currently 5th in the MLB in hits, 11th in Batting Average, 14th in Home Runs, and 6th in RBI's.

4.  Zack Greinke-  Greinke is a starting pitcher for the Kansas City Royals.  You may have heard his name in the early going of the 2009 season because of how great he was pitching.  Greinke became the first pitcher since the Royals came into existance to have an Earned Run Average (ERA) below 1.00 after 10 starts.  Greinke went on a streak of 12 consective starts where allowed no more than 2 runs.  Greinke has just slowed down a little.  He is the current MLB ERA leader at 1.96, 4th in strikeouts with 106, and 7th in wins.

3.  Roy Halladay-  Halladay is a starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays.  Halladay was placed on the disabled list on June 17th.  Halladay is the Major League Leader in wins with 10, 11th in strikeouts with 88, and 7th in ERA at 2.53.  In a recent MLB player poll right before Interleague Play began 11 players were asked what pitcher hitter matchup would be the best.  Out of the 11, 7 chose Halladay as the pitcher.

2.  Joe Mauer-  Mauer is the catcher for the Minnesota Twins and is currently batting 421 which would easily be leading the MLB leader except he does not have enough plate appearences because of an injury that caused him to miss the first 22 games of the season.  Mauer is currently on pace to be the first player to hit over 400 since Ted Williams did so in 1941.  Also Mauer has won 2 of the last 3 batting titles and was the first catcher to win a single batting title.

1.  Albert Pujols-  Pujols is the first baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals.  Pujols Won NL MVP in 2005 and also 2008.  Pujols is currently 18th in batting average, 1st in home runs, and 3rd in RBI's.  Pujols was voted the Most Feared Hitter in Baseball in a poll of all 30 big-league managers in 2008.  Also in a very recent poll 11 current players were asked if they could see one hitter versus pitcher matchup of any two current players who would it be?  Guess what?  11 out of 11 players voted Pujols as the hitter.  The winning matchup was Pujols versus Halladay.
