Top 5 Games on Facebook

With over 200 million subscribers, Facebook is a serious player in the social networking arena. So, with that, you know that there are going to be players trying to jump on the train and grab some of that success too.

One of the players in this game are game developers. Thankfully these developers have embraced the vision of Facebook and have made games, or apps, as they are called that make and bring friends and family together.

InsideSocialGames.com has been ranking these games for a while now and the Top 5 for the month of June 2009 are showcased below.

Texas HoldEm Poker by Zynga

Well if the U.S. Government successfully deterred Americans from playing poker for money on the Internet, it will probably take the whole U.S. Army to get them off of Texas HoldEm Poker(THP) on Facebook. Zynga's hot card game has over 12.5 million montly users.

THP not only grasps the spirit of this version of poker but they include all your friends in the game also by letting you send them chips and gifts. These are free, but you can also purchase gifts for your friends or by chips for yourself.

THP started a Shootout game recently and have incorporated it into a giveaway for the World Series of Poker Tournament in Las Vegas, NV.

Overall, if you like poker, this is the place to be on Facebook!

Mafia Wars by Zynga

Zynga certainly knows how to make a great social game and it shows again in this mobster game called Mafia Wars. Zynga is bringing in almost 12 million montly users with Mafia Wars.

Mafia Wars a point system to score your movement up the mobster family and with the more friends that you have in your mob, the more powererful you are. The designers have also introduced a new part of the game where you can now travel to Cuba and make your mob presence felt there! Another masterful move by Zynga to keep the game interesting.

Again, you may play the game for free, but there is an option to get special items and more points by purchasing them.

Pet Society by playfish

Unlike the other games in this list, I do not play Pet Society on Facebook. It is fairly new and it just boomed up into the Top 5 from no where.

The basics of the game are that you are rewarded with points as you perform tasks and adventures. As you gain points you also gain levels and earn new items for your pet. But you must keep you pet happy by feeding, bathing and playing with your pet.

I think that I will be playing this game just to see how it develops.

Farm Town by Slashkey

Farm Townis a neat little game that mimicks owning a farm in todays world. You get experience points for plowing, planting and harvesting your crops. You get cash for selling your crops that are harvested by your friends or any Farm Town player. You can also go help your friends by weeding, raking or watering their farm.

As in my farm above, I went from the small acreage to the maximum. I now have a nice little layout and I am now a part-time pumpkin farmer and I am starting a wind farm. Slashkey has added flowers to the menu lately, but they need to add something else, like disasters, to make the game more interesting once you have made it to the higher levels.

I recommend this game to all as it is fun and different than other games on Facebook.

Farm Town Cheat

YoVille by Zynga

Holy Cow! Zynga must be having a all night party with three games in the Top 5 on Facebook.

In YoVille you get cash by working and experience points to level up by doing different actions in the game. I do play this game, but have drifted from it as it really hasn't caught my fancy to waste my time playing it.

It is very nicely designed with great graphics and I suppose it is made to mimick Sims, but it still doesen't grab me like the other Zynga games.
