Anesthesiologists at #5

Anesthesiologist is rated as one of the highest paying jobs in America, coming at number five in line. They are medical doctors trained to administer anesthesia and manage the medical care before, during, and after surgery. Anesthesiologists provide or participate in more than 90 percent of the 60 million anesthetics delivered in the USA annually. This includes a preoperative medical evaluation of every patient before surgery, consultation and planning of the surgery with the medical team, creating a plan for the anesthesia tailored to each and every patient, airway management, intra operative life support and provision of pain control, intra operative diagnostic evaluations as needed, and post operative life support. According to sources, the number of anesthesiologists have decreased over the years. In order to serve the population better, positions for anesthesiologists have been open and increasing over the past few years. In addition, physicians supervise ACTs, or anesthesiologist care teams, which are composed of a supervising physician with several certified registered anesthetists (CNRA’s) or anesthesiology assistants (AA’s) , working together to provide healthcare to the population. In certain parts of the country, anesthesiologists work in what is deemed a “solo” or “MD/DO only” practice, during which they provide anesthesia in a “one on one” relationship with their patients. This job requires a lot of hard work and dedication put into a career. All of this hard work for an income of $63.31 per hour or $131,680 a year. I say this job is well worth the job description.

Obstetricians and gynecologists #4

Coming at number four on the list are obstetricians and gynecologists. They earn $64.15 an hour, $133,430 per year. Obstetricians and gynecologists are responsible for preparing government and organizational reports on birth, death, and disease statistics, work force evaluations, or the medical status of individuals. They advise patients and community members concerning diet, hygiene, and disease prevention. Working this job, you are required to analyze records, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patients. They care for and treat women for prenatal, natal, and post natal periods. As an obstetrician or gynecologist, you are required to collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results. It only gets harder as you have to explain procedures and test results or prescribed treatments with patients. You also have to monitor patients’ condition and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary. Performing cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients’ health and delivering babies safely is yet another part of the job. You must prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent disease, illness, or injury. Referring patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary is a very important factor of this career. Last, you have to plan, implement, or administer health programs in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses.

Investment Banker #3

Investment bankers are rated number 3 on the top five highest paying jobs because they receive approximately $64.42 per hour, which is about $134,000 a year (entry level). Investment bankers perform a lot of different roles in their line of work. First they must advise companies, institutions and governments on how to achieve their financial goals implement their plans. Corporate financiers (investment bankers) work in dedicated teams, focusing on specific transactions or market sectors. A typical corporate finance deal has two phases (or stages)

· Origination: assessing a deal’s desirability, which is sometimes an innovative idea from the bank rather than their clients. Also, financial models are used to simulate possible outcomes (this requires a deep understanding of a sector).

· Execution: structuring and negotiating the detailed terms of a deal, often in liaison with other professionals.

A lot of investment banks deal in three main areas:

· Mergers and acquisitions (M&A): assisting clients with expansion to increase to increase profitability, safeguard market position, diversify, etc. investment bankers manage the transaction process, assessing the target organization and the impact of the deal. This involves knowledge of legal and regulatory issues.

· Debt capital markets: working with lenders such as financial institutions, agencies and the public and private companies to support client debt. This includes restructuring debt, refinancing debt and raising new debt.

· Equity capital markets: advising clients on how much capital to raise, from whom and when.

These are a list of typical activities on a day to day basis:

· Thoroughly researching market conditions and developments

· Identifying new business opportunities

· Carrying out financial modeling, then developing and presenting appropriate financial solutions to clients

· Structuring marketing campaigns for transactions

· Coordinating teams of professionals, including accountants, lawyers and PR consultants.

Surgeons #2

At number two on the list, surgeons. Somehow I am not surprised to see them on this list, seeing the amount of dedication they have to put into their work, and the amount of pressure against them. They earn an hourly payment of $65.89, and a yearly payment of a total of $137,050. Surgeons are physicians who operate to repair injuries, correct deformations, prevent diseases, and generally improve the health of their patients. Some people here the word “surgeon” and think of all the television shows that they see, giving them the idea that their job is a lot simpler than it really is, but the reality is its one of the hardest jobs anyone could ever perform. They perform countless amounts of operations. Some specialize in one type of surgery or one area or system of the body. Neurosurgeons, for example, operate on the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system, while thoracic surgeons operate on lungs and other organs in the chest cavity. Diseases of bones and joints, such as arthritis, as well as treatment of broken bones, are the focus of orthopedic surgeons. In order to become a surgeon in most cases, it is required that you have a bachelor’s degree, usually with a major in science, such as biology or chemistry. They look for well rounded students, so other courses and activities are extremely important.

Why doesn't any of the listings for highest paying jobs include, movie stars, sports figures, and musicians?

Because the payments vary with those listings. If the movie star gets no recognition, they gets no money. So there is no definite payroll for those that you have listed

Kelley, I almost laughed out loud when I read your question. Don't worry you don't know any better. Unfortunately, there aren't any classes you can take to be a mutual fund manager unless there's class on "how to meet rich and successfull people when you're not." The reality is that most or all mutual fund managers get their jobs buy being part of a social group that most people aren't part of. Yes, they are most likely well educated but not necessarily in the field of business or even investments. Education alone won't get you anywhere. You need good social, and communication skills and even then unless you know someone, you most likely won't get to become one. In most cases, mutual fund managers work for the same company for decades unless they fail miserably, which is close to impossible, or they die. In either case there is a line of people waiting for that same position. If you want to know about a way to become a mutual fund manager, shoot me an email and I'll let you know. ;) redhuntingcap1986@hotmail.com
