Why Yogurt? what's so good about it?

Yogurt gives us lots of health benefits such as preventing deadly diseases. Most of us regard yogurt as a diet food, only to be taken when there is excess weight to be lost, but this is simply not true. Yogurt is a rich source of nutrients and when taken regularly can help you achieve maximum health and prevent diseases.

Seventy per cent of adults around the world suffer from a condition called lactose maldigestion. If this happens when reduced levels of certain enzymes necessary for breaking down lactose results in the body's inability to digest milk. Individuals who suffer from this condition experience abdominal cramping, gas, bloating and/or diarrhea after consuming milk. Extensive research has shown that consumption for Marigold yogurt decreases maldigestion and intolerance in individuals who are lactase deficient.

Yogurt contains live and active cultures. These are unique living micro-organisms which give yogurt its healthful properties. The most common are Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. The result is a healthy gastrointestinal tract, regular bowel movement and lower cholesterol.

Yogurt also contains high amounts of water, minerals, proteins, calcium and riboflavin. It helps to prevent osteoporosis as it improves calcium absorption. Yogurt is and excellent source of calcium and to reduce the risk of osteoporosis, regular intake is highly recommended.

Recent research conducted also shows that regular consumption of yogurt may actually reduce the risk of cancer. Lactic acid bacteria, found in yogurt, have been known to lower levels of enzymes in the colon that are known to be involved in the development of colon cancer. It also strengthens your immune system.
