Super Mario Brothers is one of the best and most original games, and an icon for Nintendo. Super Mario games are platform/action adventure games. They have evolved since the first Mario World release a long time ago towards the action scene. It is still considered a platformer which simply means that the main objective is to avoid obsticals while moving towards the end of the level. Of course there will be bad guys that will be trying to stop you from accomplishing this task. There are tons of fan made Super Mario games usually made in flash. That you can play straight from your browser. Many of them are very nicely done as well. They are mostly inspired by certain Super Mario games, such as Mario 64 is one that is common for people to make a fan version of.

Born in 1980 by Nintendo, more specifically Shigeru Miyamoto. Nintendo's manager talked to Shigeru Miyamoto after their first failed game and were in trouble of going bankrupt. He asked Mr. Miyamoto to create a game idea by himself something new and original. Thus Donkey Kong was born. When Donkey Kong was first released Mario was named "jumpman." Of course they had to come up with a catchier name due to their US release soon. That is when their landlord Mario Segale visited their warehouse and demanded the rent and went on a rant. Then after he left they decided to use the name Mario. That is the story of the birth of gaming industries most iconic character.

Super Mario Flash looks almost just like a straight port from the console game. There are however some things that are a little different like some of the levels and how they are made up. Though there is a huge added benefit to this game. They have a level editor that is VERY fun to mess around with. Create and play your very own level. They have a ton of options for the level editor also so you can spend a long time just playing around with it. Then you can invite your friends over to play through your level. Make them as hard as possible but not impossible and try to stump your friends!

There are many places to find this game online but above is one location. Also with being a flash game there are different versions available at different locations so be aware of there may be a updated version with more features.

Super Mario Rampage is not a traditional Super Mario game, though it gets bonus points for originality. This is a game where you play Mario or Luigi and massacre all the enemies with your shotgun! This is pointless as there aren't levels or anything implemented though its entertaining for a surprisingly long time. Warning this game is a little bloody and violent, so keep that in mind.

This is more of a parody of the Mario genre and not really a commitment to the way it was meant to be played. Though I suggest if you don't mind some blood and violence, its worth a try. Like many flash games it is available a lot of different places but above is one version of the game.

Super Mario Overrun is another off beat Mario game. You play the role of Luigi who is trying to protect the princess from all of the bad guys attacking the castle. You have coins which in between rounds you spend on guns, ammo, and some other special items special items. They will attempt to do damage to the castle and your job is to shoot them before they start attacking the castle. This is easier said than done! The enemies move very quick and get stronger as you advance in levels. You get coins for shooting the enemies so you can buy better weapons and more ammo. Just don't forget to stock up on ammo!

Being a flash game this is a lot of different sites it is hosted on but this is the version I found.

Mario Adventure 2 looks similar to the Mario 64 game graphics wise. This is a completely unique however. It gets really difficult very quickly. It feels a little awkward at times also, though this doesn't affect game play for me too much, you get used to it. It is also different because of the fact that you get health instead of the traditional way that Mario gets hurt. Where he gets tiny when damaged and big when you collect a mushroom again. This makes it for a slightly unique game style in itself which was a pretty good idea in my opinion.

You can always download Snes9x and play all of the original games that were available on the Super Nintendo. Of course that isn't to say that there isn't a Nintendo emulator and you couldn't play the originals. My favorites however are on the SNES! There are plenty of sites out there that cater to emulating and ROMs. ROMs are the games for an emulator, the emulator reads the ROMs as if it was a game in a system. You just download both, run the emulator, click file load ROM. Select the ROM you want to play. Enjoy the good old games from back when you were a kid!

DOSBox is a great program that allows us to play the old DOS based games that we used to play and love way back in the day. This is an easy to install and use program, just visit the official site and follow the instructions. Using this program allows us to use abandonware. Abandonware are old games that are no longer copywrited and are forgotten no longer able to make any profit off of them so they are abandoned. We can benefit from this. Using DOSBox we can emulate a DOS like environment and play all of the abandonware games that are available at multiple websites for free download.

Mario Teaches Typing is a very fun game to use when either teaching children to type or wanting to improve yourself. I loved all of the levels and making a game out of typing. You are usually being chased by something or racing against the clock to attempt to increase your typing speed by forcing you to try to type faster. It really works and does it with a lot of fun with surprising decent graphics for being such an old game.

There are tons of Online Mario Games out there most of which are not even worth mentioning. If you know of one that is worth mentioning and is one that you like too.
