Interested in music production? If you are into home studio recording, then read on for a short list of the seven essential things you absolutely must have to get it right. Then join the Online Music Community

1. Headphones: In order to properly record each track for a song, you need to hear them separately.

2. Microphone: Check. Check. Check. This one should be obvious....

3. External hard drive: An extra hard drive is critical to make sure you don't run the risk of losing your precious files if your system crashes.

4. Speakers: Replaying what you've recorded on bad speakers just sounds bad. Invest in a great pair of speakers to make a huge difference in sound quality and integrity.

5. Drum key: Drums can be the backbone of any music recording. Having dead drum sound or off-key drums can kill any track. Have a drum key handy at all times, you'll be happy when it comes in handy.

6. Pop filter: You know the sound......cheap recordings with a hiss on "p" and "s" sounds when sung. A pop filter is a screen to be placed in front of the microphone that stops the hissing from happening.

7. Extra microphone stands: Just have them handy.....cheap, simple, and important. You never know when you will need an extra!

Build it like a pro, sound like a pro. It's a simple concept. A home music production studio doesn't have to cost a fortune if you invest a few pounds into a few really good pieces of essential hardware.
