Pregnacy Test Quiz

How do you know if you are pregnant?

Early pregnancy signs vary by the individual. Since not all women are alike, then not all sign are alike but there are some tell tell signs that you are pregnant. These signs can start as early as a week after conception or as late as three months. My sister didn't know she was pregnant until she was in her second trimester.

First thing you have to ask yourself is, did you have sex? I know it sounds silly but you would be surprised how many woman actually believe they are pregnant when they did not engage in intercourse so there would be no reason to think you are.

It can be difficult to discern premenstrual symptoms from actual pregnancy. However there is a condition that exist called pseudocyesis, false pregnancy. Women will actually experience all the symptoms of a real pregnancy and in rare cases will actually grow a uterus/womb and "be pregnant" but there never was a baby.

10 signs you might be pregnant.

  1. Fatigue. If you are feeling unusually tired. When I say "unusually" tired, I am saying you are nodding off while standing up or falling fast asleep at 7:00pm. Sleepiness is usually the first sign you might be pregnant.
  2. Smell sensitivity. When the smell of something makes you nauseous. Possibly a vegetable like broccoli. Something that wouldn't normally bother you that suddenly makes you queasy. You might get headaches from certain smells and your olfactory seems super human like.
  3. Nausea. Sometimes you just feel sick in your stomach, other times you vomit out of control. It's called morning sickness but morning sickness can happen anytime of the day.
  4. Breast tenderness. Your breast feel larger and are more sensitive often times extremely painful to the slightest touch.
  5. Darker nipples. The areola around your nipple might become darker and your nipple might become more pronounced.
  6. Cravings. I think this is less common then the commonly held belief. Cravings, for the most part don't usually develop until the second trimester, but like I said, not every woman is the same.
  7. Dreaming. I don't know why it is, but it's been said that women start to have bizarre dreams. Dreams that include having a child. It could be one of those great mysteries between the mother and child bond but it happens.
  8. Pee! You feel the need to pee and pee a lot. Even though the baby is microscopic at this point, the uterus has already started to grow and that pressure is enough to push down on your urethra and make you feel like you need to pee.
  9. Mood swings. Do you feel exceptionally emotional for no apparent reason? Hormones, hormones, hormones.
  10. You missed your period!

Missing your period is usually a pretty good sign you are pregnant however you should wait at least a couple weeks before you start to panic or think happy thoughts because just the stress alone can cause you to be late. I know the first thing you will want to do is go see the doc. but wait a couple weeks.

Early pregnancy test can tell you five days before the start of your next period if you are pregnant or not but it is too soon for you to know. It's too early to know if the baby is going to take. Essentially, you end up having a "late" period so it is not fair to give yourself that kind of stress.

Great Hub! I had also mentioned that all pregnancies are not alike. A woman can go through alot of different symptoms. A pregnancy is never the same, its always different whether you have two children or five. I liked the way you put it.
