Top Ten Fuel Saving Tips
56When gas prices rise it gets difficult to budget expenses and a larger chunk of the salary goes into paying for gas. Here are some tips to save on gas.
1) Avoid High Speeds
Always stick to the speed limits. One can improve gas mileage about 15 percent by driving at 55 mph rather than 65 mph.
2) Keep Tires Properly Inflated
One should check for tire pressure every three months. Also important is to have the wheel alignment and rotation done regularly. If you have your tires inflated properly, then this will definately improve gas mileage.
3) Avoid Acceleration or Braking Hard
By anticipating the traffic ahead of you and applying slow and steady acceleration and braking, fuel economy may increase by as much as 20%.
4) Use A/C Sparingly
Use the air conditioning sparingly. Open the windows a bit when driving for groceries or gym.
5) Air Filter Check Ups
Having a clean air filter is a great way to improve your fuel economy, this is because a dirty air filter can restrict the flow of the air into the engine which can in turn harm the performance and reduce economy.
6) Keep windows closed
If you have your windows open when you are traveling at high speeds, then this would decrease fuel economy by 10%.
7) Avoid Overloading Your Car
Make sure that you take all of the things that you don’t need out of your trunk and only pack lightly when going on long trips. For every 100 pounds in your car, you loose 1 MPG.
8) Invest In A Fuel Efficient Car
If you plan on buying a small car with a manual transmission then this will provide you with great fuel economy.
9) When Purchasing The Most Gasoline For The Dollar, Buy During The Evening When It Is Cooler.
Gasoline is densest when it is cool and gas is sold by volume.
10) Avoid Long Idles
If you know that you are going to be at a spotlight for a couple of minutes, turn the engine off to avoid wasting gasoline. Restarting the car uses less fuel than letting it idle for this time.

This is an excellent top ten list. I think that these are so easy to do and so important as gas is only going to get more and more expensive. You can cross-post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and link back to your site. We are trying to create a directory for top ten lists where people can find your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
