Texas is one of the best states in the United States of America. It is filled with fun and enjoyment the whole family will love. If you are planning on coming to Texas, here are 10 locations that are "must visits".
Top Ten
10. The Big Texan in Amarillo, Texas - The Big Texan is a very large restaurant located in Amarillo, Texas. It has wonderful food but one thing that draws many visitors. In the restaurant's eating area, there is a raised platform with one single table and four chairs. If your daring, they cook you a 72 ounce steak. If you try to eat all of the steak, the potato, roll, and salad, you would have just eaten a FREE MEAL! However, if you can't finish the 72 ounce steak, you must pay the fee, which is around 72.00!!! Good luck!
9. Blue Bell Creamery - Many of people have heard of the great ice-cream chain Bluebell. In Brenham, Texas, the company opened their doors in 1907. Bluebell is sold in many states and has around 50 different flavors to choose from!
8. Six Flags in Arlington, Texas - Six Flags is a fun attractive theme park located right in the heart of the beautiful, wonderous city of Arlington, Texas. It is home to many large roller coasters, one lncluding the massive Titan, which can be seen for mile!
7. Highland Park, Texas - Highland Park is located in north Dallas. The city of Highland Park has a rich history in the Dallas. It is easily one of the most beautiful cities in all of Texas. Many of the homes in Highland Park are VERY fancy and exquisite, just adding the more fun of seeing all the luxurious houses.
6. Reunion Tower in Dallas, Texas - Reunion Tower in Dallas, Texas is one of the most unique restaurants in Texas besides the Big Texan. It is located around 550 ft. in the air in simply put a 'big ball'. Up at the top of the ball, as I said, there is a restaurant. Directly under the restaurant is an area of observation where there is many Kodak moments.
5. The Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas - Running through the city is a long river. It has earned the names riverwalk because there are sidewalks along the river which you can walk along the river. You can also ride visitor boats down the river, which is very fun. Along the river is lined with trees, stores, and even a mall! When in San Antonio, this is a definite must see.
4. Austin, Texas - Austin the located in south Texas. It is also the capitol of Texas. In the city is many different attractions, one including the University of Texas. Another attraction many people enjoy is the Capitol Building. If you want a great history lesson, go to the capitol, it is very enjoying!
3 The Alamo - Another great attraction in San Antonion is The Alamo. The Alamo is the ruins of the Battle of the Alamo, the most famous battle of the Texas Revolution. It is now a museum with lined with beautiful landscape. You can walk through and look at all the wonderful artifacts and things people have discovered from the ruins.
2. The new Dallas Cowboys stadium - Originally located in Irving, Texas just north of Dallas is the Dallas Cowboy stadium. Recently, we approved the stadium to be built now in Arlington, Texas right next door to the Ballpark at Arlington, where the Texas Rangers play. It will be the biggest football stadium in the country. It is now under construction and will be completed soon and the hope to start the season in the new stadium at the start of the season of 2009.
1. Port Aransas - Located along the Gulf of Mexico in south Texas along the Aransas Pass is Port Aransas. Port Aransas, located on Mustang Island, is home to many condos which lead right to the beach. I will admit, the water is not as clear as Destin, Florida or anywhere is Florida. The best things about the beaches here are the waves! Some waves get to over 6 feet! Does Destin have that? No! If you are down there, this is a MUST GO! Bring your swim trucks, boogie boards, and be prepared to have to most fun you have ever had in your life!
Hopefully this hub will convince you how enjoyable and exciting the great state of Texas is! Have a great time in Texas!!

Thanks Parker. You are correct!
This is a very informative article that doesn't dwell excessively long on describing the mentioned locations. Only thing that bothered me were some grammatical and punctuational errors which made some parts confusing.
Overall though, the article was good. I'll have to look in on that "potentially free steak" at the Big Texan if I'm ever in Amarillo.
Thanks. You really should see that stake. If you eat the steak in an hour, plus the salad, roll, and baked potato, its free. But since the steak is 72 ounces, if you dont eat it, its $72.00! Good luck! Thanks for the comment.

Hi John, So many great places in Texas that it is hard to choose just the top 10 but you gave it your best shot.
Houston, Galveston, Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley, Big Bend and the other national and state parks, etc, etc, etc................
So much to see and experience in Texas!
Yeah, it was hard! But, I did it. I might do another one top 50! LOL
Or break it into attractions.......cities.........natural places, etc. Might be easier. It is a BIG state! (Smile)
You could even break it into regions. Great hub. You name many of my favorite places.
Thanks KCC! And just a note, this hub is my best hub and would like it to be number one on the Texas hub under my name. Thanks!

Very cool! I'm still working on that. No one seems to be interested. I'm not sure how much work to put into something that no one seems that interested in, you know?

Sorry I mentioned it.
Wait...this is Cali we talkin about so they are all gay!
I love the CB slang for California. They call it 'Gay Bay' or 'Pickle Park' LOL!! Gotta love the truckers!
Hey if you love those truckers and want to head to Gay bay, I won't stop you! It seems that you are doing alot of research on gay activity, that's okay, to each his own.
Whats this bickering between John and goldentoad, lets leave the bickering out of hub

John,
Great hub and great places to visit in the state as well. I really enjoy heading out to San Antonio and spending a day on the Riverwalk. There are lots of different upscale restaurants and outdoor seating, great for people watching while enjoying a meal or a drink!
Thanks Mardi! Yes the Riverwalk is a very fun place
Hey John, this top ten list is fantastic. Austin is by far the best city in Texas, there's so much to do and being a university town gives it a great feel. You can post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and link back to your site. We are trying to create a directory for top ten lists where people can find your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
Thanks for the link, johnb! It obvious that we both enjoy sharing the best of Texas with the rest of the world!
And thank you for posting my link!
Great stuff - congratulations on a fine, very informative Hub!
You left out New Braunfels, Tx and the hill country. The San Marcos river and Guadalupe are some of my most prized memories when I was younger. Good hub though.
If you go to my second list of the Top Ten Places to Visit in Texas, I wrote a lot about the hill country, haha
One little thing bothers me, Austin is not in South Texas! Austin is Central Texas! San Antonio is on the edge of South Texas.
Austin is more southern than central
south of Dallas but its considered central or maybe S.central
Hey, you forgot to mention Texarkana located on the state line of AR and TX. Runs right down the middle of town. It's a cool place.
"Austin is more southern than central"
Not if you actually live in Texas.
Exactly!! lol
I'm going to Houston for the first time next May. This gives me some ideas. Thanks.
You will have fun! I love Houston!
