Aw, its time for list two! Texas is a great state with many fun attractions for the whole family, not just mom and dad. There are many state parks, historic museums, and funky places, but I managed to pick out another list of what I think are some Texas ‘must visit’s.
10. The Cadillac Ranch – Located in Amarillo, Texas, The Cadillac Ranch is a popular attraction for many Texas-comers. There are 10 Cadillacs buried nose down in the ground all along side by side of each other. A millionaire named Stanley Marsh owns the Cadillacs and the property the ranch sits on. It is said to represent the Golden Age of America.
9. Marble Falls, Texas – Running close to the most beautiful city in Texas, Marble Falls is located near Kerrville, Texas in the Hill Country. The city of Marble Falls sits on Lake Marble Hills. Limestone created the falls. With the town centered around Lake Marble Falls, visitors can enjoy boat races, fishers, camping, and hunting. Marble Falls is home to the biggest drag boat race in the U.S. each August.
8. Palo Duro Canyon – Located in Canyon, Texas, Palo Duro canyon is a great park to see excellent scenery. You can even hire a drive tour where someone gets in your vehicle and gives you a tour of the canyon. At Palo Duro, they have a play there called ‘Texas’. It is a famous Texas play about the history of Texas. If you are lucky and catch a holiday, they will provide fireworks. The show is very interesting and fun!
7. The USS Lexington – The USS Lexington, a battleship used in World War II, has now been turned into a museum and a great learning experience for the young and the old. It is located in Corpus Christi, Texas. You can board the giant ship, takes different tours throughout the ship, go see the flight deck where the planes take of and land, watch movies along the way, and even see an IMAX film. There is a great restaurant and gift shop aboard too. You can also go up and visit where the captain sits to guide the ship.
6. The Sixth Floor Museum – The Sixth Floor Museum is a museum right in the heart of Dallas, Texas. It is located directly in front of the famous Dealey Plaza, where former President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed. The museum offers tours through headphones and listening programs. This allows you to view the museum at your own pace. Throughout the museum you are taking in much information to try and figure out the still famous mystery of who killed JFK. This museum is one of the best in Texas and offers a great learning experience.
5. Nacogdoches, Texas – For Texans, this city is a big part of our history. Nacogdoches is Texas’ first city. Nacogdoches, as you may figure, is filled with history of Texas and of the city. Nacogdoches is famous for its azalea garden; they have the biggest in Texas! Whether you are walking the brick lined roads of the city or hiking the trails settlers hiked to settle Nacogdoches, you will sure enjoy this great, history filled city.
4. Route 66 in Amarillo, Texas – One famous part of Amarillo, Texas is its route 66 highway. Amarillo is located in the panhandle and has many famous attractions, including the Big Texan restaurant. In fact, Amarillo’s route 66 was named Amarillo’s most famous destination. Lined with restaurants, shops, and bars, the Amarillo Route 66 will prove to be a fun filled trip.
3. Big Bend National Park – Big Bend National Park is located in far west Texas along the big curve of Texas. At the park, you can enjoy camping, lodging, hiking, float trips, and more! Big Bend National Park has a variety of wildlife including many species of plants, birds, and reptiles. Big Bend also provides spectacular views of large rock formations, valleys, and mountains. Make sure you bring a camera!
2. Fredericksburg, Texas – I don’t know if I have seen a more beautiful and interesting little town like Fredericksburg, Texas. There is so much to do in this town, you will need at least a week to do all the fun stuff! The town has a strong German character and they are not afraid to show it. According to the town of Fredericksburg’s website, shopping is what attracts people most to the small town. With over 150 shops, you can spend a whole week visiting different shops and buying things you will never forget about.
1. Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum – Without a doubt the best museum in Texas is the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Bob Bullock Museum for short. At the Bob Bullock Museum, you can enjoy learning about the story of Texas. If you are a born and raised Texan, you must visit this museum! It holds so many facts, information, pictures, videos, and more about Texas. The museum has 3 whole floors of exhibits that people can interact with. You can also enjoy great IMAX movies while you are there. I call this museum ‘Where Texas lives’ because it is a Texas encyclopedia. This museum is definitely a must see if you are in the area.

How can you leave out Round Rock Texas? It is the site of the famous shootout between Texas Rangers and Sam Bass! John Wesley Hardin attended Round Rock schools for an entire day! Hell, we are even named after a Round Rock!!
How could this not be the coolest site in Texas?
And don't forget our motto
"Visit historical Round Rock on vacation and leave on probation!"
Well, why don't you just make a list of your own.
I was being sarcastic
Lol, so was I
I may make a top 10 of places not to visit
Good idea!
Awesome hub and challenge. I prefer the country parts of TX, and before the lake went down, Lake Travis was a favorite place to go. Used to like to jump off the cliff. Guess I'd kill myself if I tried to do that now...Boats out of the water on their hulls...what's all that about??? Come on rain!!!
Ive never been to Lake Travis. Sounds like a fun place before the lake went dry, lol
