Top Tips for getting Traffic to your Hubs
Here are some great tips for getting traffic to your hubs. Everyone wants and needs more traffic, after all can you ever have enough?
Ok lets get started.
- The most important thing to do is decide on a good title. This is what will attract people to your hub and it is how search engines will list your hub.
- Don't go for an over saturated search term to use for your title. Go to Google and type in your title using quotes. I just check the title for this hub by putting in "top tips for getting traffic to your hubs" and hit search. 0 results returned. So as soon as Google picks up this hub it will show at the very top! When someone searches for that term, and I am at the top, guess what they are going to click on...
- Bookmark your hub. Social bookmarking will give you some great traffic. I will post a list below.
- Ping your hub when you finish it or update. I use Pingomatic
- Add Tags to your hub. Use relevant tags for your hub, I usually use terms people use when they use a search engine. This way if you have that tag on your hub you will show up in the search results
- Join or start your own fan club
- Submit your hub to directories. Here is a great list of Over 1,600 Directories you can submit to.
- Write and article about your topic and submit to the article directories with a link in your bio pointing to your hub
- Post in forums with a link to your hub in your signature.
- Leave comments on related blogs with a link to your hub (don't spam)
- Mention your hub in chat rooms.
- Email a friend the link to your hub
- Start a link exchange on your hub with other related hubs or websites.
- Add your link address to your signature in your email.
- Add your hub RSS feed to your Yahoo and Google homepage, This way as soon as you create a new hub Google and Yahoo will pick it up. On Yahoo click the add content, click add RSS feed and paste in your hub feed. You can find your hub feed by clicking the RSS icon on the right side of one of your hubs. For Google go to iGoogle and click add stuff. Click add by url and paste in your hub feed.
I am sure there a lot more ways to get traffic but these seem to work well,

Thanks for the great resources! Two questions: Do you know which of the Directories allow "deep" URL's (like our HUB URL's)?? Also, do you know which of the bookmarking sites do NOT have no-follow tags so that they DO show up as links for you? Seems like most use no-follow taqs. Digg does not (don't know if it's considered a bookmarking site??) and FURL does not seem to use the no-follow tags. Thanks! Dennis
As far as directories go I have had no problem getting rejected submitting hub pages. Some want a link back so you may have to start a link list.
For social bookmarking site using nofollow - I will have to look into that further. Most of the ones I use will show up in search results for the hubpage I bookmarked.
Here is another tip you can use - Submit the RSS for your hubpages to rss directories. That way any time you build a new hub it will get picked up.
Here is a good list for RSS directories - http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-submission.h

Terrifically informative! I will definitely use the RSS tip, thanks so much for this hub.
Ok...this is so extensive and thorough! I love it! I didn't think to use pingomatic relative to getting traffic. I do it for my blog..now that was a true duh momment!
