1 - Planetware - Attractions listed by country - based on Baedeker Guides, this may be the most complete list of top attractions (4 and 5 star-rated), listed by country, that is available anywhere. 3 - Hillman Wonders - World's Top 1000 Wonders listed by Country - Also ranked by Gold (top 100), Silver (101-200) and Bronze (201-1000) - Individual descriptions are provided for most sites, especially the Gold ones.

4 - National Geographic Traveler's Rating of 115 of the World's Top Destinations - From the best to the worst. You should probably have the best from this list somewhere on your twp lists.

1. UNESCO World Heritage List - Even better is The Tentative List, which includes sites that countries plan to propose to the Heritage List in the future, and many of which are "undiscovered" by the mass tourism industry.On the other hand, they also have their World Heritage in Danger List.
