Top five home run hitters of all-time?
74Homerun...
Hey! I'm sure you're wondering who the top five MLB players with homeruns! Here's the top five but keep in mind, number two is getting ready to beat number one in homeruns so stay and watch.. you might be able to see the change as soon as it happens!
Here's the source for my information:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/HR_career.shtml
If you want more information on any of the players, Please ask me and I'll add!
Hank Aaron
Hank Aaron is still number one! Barry Bonds is on his way to break his record of 755 homeruns. His last game was on October 6, 1976 and he retired that same year but he was not inducted into the hall of fame until 1982
Barry Bonds
Barry Bonds is only 4 homeruns away from beating Hank Aaron's record. He is still playing in the MLB and this is projected to be his last year as a baseball player. People are waiting for him to become number one and that will happen this year, we all believe. There are only two people in the top five that are still playing.
Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth is one of the most infamous baseball players in the MLB. He got 714 homeruns and I believe that is a honorable number. He retired in 1935 and made it into the hall of fame in 1936. Even if he is ever taken out of the top five, he will always be one of the best players in the history of MLB.
Willie Mays
Here's number four of top five with 660 homeruns! Willie Mays played from 1951 to 1973 and was introduced into the hall of fame in 1979. Even though he played from 1951, he signed on with the giants as a free agent.
Sammy Sosa
Sammy Sosa, the infamous baseball player.. he's number five of five. He has a total of 602 homeruns and is still playing! He left the MLB for about a year after leaving the Chicago Cubs but now plays for Texas Rangers. Right now, at this moment, he has 602 homeruns and maybe he'll get more!
Confused??
As mentioned, there are two baseball players that often people believe deserve to be in the top five. They are not in the top five merely because they have not hit as many homeruns as the other five.
Ken Griffey- He has hit 586 homeruns total in his career and is still batting today and tomorrow. Maybe he will make it in the top five if he beats Sammy Sosa's record of 602 or whatever record Sammy Sosa ends his career with. Ken is only a year younger than Sammy so he could always make or break the record. He does make the top ten barely behind Sosa at number six
Mark McGwire- He is a wonderful baseball player, however he does not make the cut. He would still make top ten however he is number eight out of ten. He has a total of 583 homeruns and retired back in 2001. He was beat by only three. The other player that's between McGwire and Griffey is Frank Robison who also has 586 homeruns.
I hope that clears up some of the confusion of who is in the top five!

Sammy? I was a bit surprised by him. I thought maybe Mickey Mantle or Mark McGwire. Do you think the doping controversy hurts Sammy or Bonds in how history will view their home run totals?
