Who thought Spain's Costa Brava, one of Europe`s traditional holiday destinations, holds no more surprises.. think again. Lovely Tossa de Mar is a very well kept secret. Despite being close to both Girona airport (half an hour) and Barcelona (1 hour) this lovely seaside town has kept its original charm and authenticity.

For years Tossa has enjoyed a quiet existence in the shade of its more illustrious neighbours Lloret and Malgrat. Famous and infamous for its nightlife and mass tourism. Tossa's historic remoteness (easier to get to by boat than by car), shielded off by great natural obstacles, has turned out to be its greatest asset. You will find no sky scraping hotels or overcrowded beaches in this part of the world.

Surrounded by lush green hills, Tossa bay offers stunning beaches overlooked by a well preserved medieval town centre, all within walking distance. Scuba divers, sailing fans and beach lovers from all over the world travel to Tossa de Mar, to enjoy its crystal clear waters and the hospitality of its people. Its natural beauty aside, Tossa's bubbling nightlife offers plenty of live music, clubbing and cultural events to choose from.

This is why it comes as no surprise that every summer, a town of only 5000 inhabitants transforms into a bustling, but very safe tourist resort. It's the ideal setting for your next holiday.

Tossa is a great place to come and relax. I don't live too far (Barcelona) and try to get to Tossa as much as possible. Lovely place.
