Cambridge University totties
An online tabloid made by students from the renowned University of
Cambridge is causing controversy in academic circles because of a
section that shows pictures of students in lingerie.
Natalie Szarek, the academic center of the university, said the
photos of Totties (cats, in a free translation) should be removed
because "reproduce and reinforce negative attitudes towards women." "We
can do better as a university," she argued.
Taymoor Atighetchi, 21, one of three founders of the tabloid,
defended the publication and said it will keep your style of
journalism. He described the criticisms of "intellectual snobbery",
especially those who, he said, "not read the site.
He said the tabloid is not intended to be sexist, but wants, instead, discuss the issue of gender in funny ways.
Editorials published in the site attacked Szarek.
Becky Adams, one of the students who posed, asked her pink bikini
photos were taken from the site. She said she took the photos "as a
favor for a friend," but he felt embarrassed when they were published.
The current attraction of the site and Emmalina Thompsell, a student who arrived in a local contest to miss.
