Do you Have Any Toxic Dog Toys

Without a doubt, dogs love to chew. If you are a dog who raised your dog from a puppy then you know without training your new pup will chew just about everything they can sink their teeth in to. Looking back, we remember fondly that favorite pair shoes or when the curtains weren’t shredded in the corner.

Dog toys can provide a safe outlet for the pent-up energy of a new puppy and stimulate the mind of older dogs suffering from boredom or stress. However, when was the last time you took a close look at your dog toys to make they are actually safe for your dog?

There have been some recent studies offering concern that some dog toys are toxic. Toys made from vinyl and PVC contains toxic chemicals and should be discarded and replaced immediately. Aside from reading the tags, take whiff if the dog toy smells like vinyl then it most likely is.

The toys most in question are the soft plastic squeaker toys; not to be confused with the rubber squeaker toys, which are safe. Squeaker toys are a wonderful dog toy for those dogs that suffer mild anxiety as the noise keeps their mind focused on the toy instead of the anxiety-triggering event.

Plush dog toys are by far the best all around. The only thing to check here is that the filling is non-toxic that is not finely shredded plastic. Plush dog toys are generally machine-washable which is great especially if your dog is like mine and likes to take the toy outside.

For the heavy chewer and the dog that destroys a toy in what seems like minutes, there are indestructible dog toys. Huck Indestructible Ball Dog Toy is the one I would recommend. The customer reviews and personal experience can tell you that these are great. The groves on the ball give your dog something to grab and chew as well as provide hours of entertainment, as there is no telling which way the ball will land once tossed.

Take a close look at your dog toys perhaps it is time to replace those you can no longer recognize with some new stimulating selections for your dog. When you buy read the tags and only get those dog toys that are safe and non-toxic.
