Tracfone is one of the premiere prepaid cell phone companies for several reasons.

The reasons are…

Tracfone offers very competitive deals on cell phone minutes and prepaid handsets.

There are frequent promotions that allow users purchasing minutes to gain free minutes as a bonus.

Tracfone is straightforward and you can check your minutes right on your phone. When you want to refill you just have to call a representative or purchase a new card at a store like CVS or Longs drugs. There are many retailers that carry Tracfone cards so it is not that difficult to purchase new minutes.

Double Minutes for Life is perhaps the biggest reason people continue to use Tracfone prepaid phones. Tracfone Double minutes for life, or DMFL, is a program that is exactly what it sounds like. Whenever you purchase a set amount of minutes, you get the same amount free in addition to your purchase. This is a great way to save on cell phone minutes with Tracfone. You can puchase DMFL for $49.99 and have it for as long as you use a given handset. But sometimes it is available for free with certain offers.

If you are looking for a prepaid cell phone, Tracfone may be a good option especially if you are extremely frugal with your minutes and don’t live on your phone, text frequently, or surf the internet much from your phone.  If you are looking for a high-tech smartphone that has all the bells and whistles, then Tracfone may not be for you, as most of the cell phones through this company are designed primarily for calling.

Also, if you are a senior, or are shopping for a phone for a senior, you may be interested in is Jitterbug prepaid phones, the first phone made exclusively for elderly users.  It is simple to use and is ready to go right out of the box.  Furthermore, Jitterbug gives really good customer service and is a great company.

Tracfone is Affordable and Reliable

As I mentioned above before I got side-tracked, Tracfone is not going to be the service you go to to find the coolest, hippest phone. So if you are looking for a Blackberry or iPhone or other hot looking smartphone, don't go with Tracfone.

Furthermore, Tracfone is not the wireless provider you want to go with if you spend a lot of time texting on your phone or surfing the web via your handset. But if you are interested in saving money on your cell phone bill, then you will be able to do so with Tracfone.

Will you use minutes faster than you think? It's possible. And even likely. The truth is you will get out what you put in. If you put in the effort and pay attention to your phone usage, then you will be able to cut back your wireless bill.

But if you neglect it and forget about your minutes, you may go over. I always tell people that Tracfone gives you the potential to save a lot on your cell phone bill, but your cell phone behavior is up to you. The more you want to cut back your bill, the easier it will be for you.

Tracfone Requires No Contract

One of the reasons a lot of people used to choose a prepaid phone plan was because they had no other option.  If you didn't qualify for a contract cell phone plan, you had to go prepaid, which typically didn't require a contract.

Now more people are going prepaid because there is no stigma attached to it anymore and it no longer "just for losers."  Well, that's a little harsh, but you know what I mean.  That's how people used to see it and it played right into the cell phone giants' hands.

Think about it.  The large wireless companies--the big four--would rather have you bound by contract, rather than give you the ability to jump ship when they treat you like crap.  Well, consumers are more savvy, and furthermore the economic Titanic we have ridden into the Iceberg is forcing people to take a second look at their expenses.

Bye bye HBO.  Bye bye iPhone.  Let's get going with Tracfone.

You Have Many Prepaid Phone Options

You have several prepaid phone options that may he a good fit for you.  I keep mentioning that if you text and surf the internet frequently, Tracfone is not a good cell phone for you.

One plan that may be good for professional text messengers and web surfers is the Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited plan.  This plan, which is obviously aimed at teenagers, costs $50 per month.  When Boost Mobile unveiled this plan. there was quite a bit of fanfare.  The one downside, and I know they are working on this, is that the network on which Boost piggybacks is notoriously spotty.  But this is something that should improve, and if you are in a major metropolitan area, you probably will have no trouble with this phone.

I still really like Tracfone prepaid as a solid go-to prepaid phone option.  If you want to save money, Tracfone is one of the options you have.  There are also family plans that might interest you.  And don't forget about Double Minutes for Life, which grants you double the minutes you pay for.  This is one way to always save money on your cell phone bill right when you are paying for your minutes.

I cannot tell you if this company would be PERFECT for you because I don't know you and I don't know your cell phone habits.  As a caveat, I will say that if you are not careful with your minutes and keep an eye on your talk time levels, it is very easy to go over and fritter them away.  But if you put in a little effort and change your phone use habits, this prepaid provider may be a great option for you and your family.
