Training a Golden Retriever!
So you’ve brought your new Golden retriever home today. Now what are you going to do? To get started they need to be made comfortable and introduced to their new surroundings. The sooner you start Training a Golden Retriever the easier its going to be on both of you. It’s very important to your Golden Retriever that you train them.
With the right and correct training they will recognize what is acceptable behavior and what is unacceptable behavior. Dogs generally react to the responses they receive. Good responses are very encouraging to them, while the bad responses show them you’re displeased by their actions. So you need to be firm when you encourage or need to express your dislikes to their behavior.
Some handy tips for Training a Golden Retriever:
*** Each dog owner has different needs for their dog. You’re training to reflect your desirable behavior that you’ll accept from your dog. You’ll need to teach your dog what your preferences are. *** Right from day one praise your dog for good behavior and get into a habit of praising all good and desirable behavior. When undesirable behavior is shown immediately discourage this kind of behavior. The sooner your puppy/dog knows what’s expected they’ll be eager to please you.
*** There’s going to be times when you’ll have to be stern with bad behavior especially if you catch them in the act. During potty training…don’t discipline accidents if you don’t catch them in the act.
***Another important point to keep in mind is timing! It plays a vital role in Training a Golden Retriever. Deal with the situation right when it happens: “don’t wait till later”.
*** As with training children your dog needs to develop some good healthy habits on his own. Sometimes you’ll have to set these up without them knowing!
*** A tip with feeding is that one person should have this chore and it’s vitally important when it come to giving medicines. Try to discourage your dog from taking food from strangers.
As with any type of training and especially with Training a Golden Retriever patience and understanding will go a long way in the training process. As you train your dog it will come to trust you and look out for you. Sometimes this training can be a tiring and daunting task and you’ll want and need help.
