History Of Trance Music

Trance knows its beginning in the early 90's, to be more specific it started around 1988 / 1989. One of the first real trance tracks I remember is The Age Of Love from the artist "Age of Love". It is one of the earliest trance tracks and people still make alot of remixes from this track.

After a couple of years, somewhere around 1995, trance became very commercial and uplifting trance was becoming very popular. Uplifting trance has got breakdowns and buildups that are more longer and are more direct and less subtile that progressive trance.

At the moment the most popular trance DJ's and producers are:

  • DJ Tiësto
  • Armin van Buuren
  • Rank 1

  • Paul van Dyk
  • Above & Beyond
  • Ferry Corsten
  • Paul Oakenfold
  • Mark Norman
  • Cor Fijneman
  • M.I.K.E.
  • Markus Schulz
  • Marco V
  • Sied van Riel

It is certainly no coincident that the best and most popular trance deejays are from Holland, Belgium, Germany and England. In the early 90's trance music was very popular in those European countries but now its also starting off in other countries like Canada, Australia, Mexico and East-European countries.

Alot of the biggest Trance Festivals can also be found in the Netherlands and Belgium. The biggest trance festival is probably Trance Energy which is a festival in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.

Other cool Trance Festivals:

  • Dance Valley (Holland)

  • Tomorrowland (Belgium)
  • Mystery Land (Holland
  • World Electronic Music Festival (Canada)
  • Sensation (Holland + Many Other Countries)
