No matter where your going on a trip there are some precautions and steps you can take to make sure your children are safe and that you and your children enjoy your trip.You can use a few of these tips and ideals to insure your children are safe and that you and your children are happy through out your travels.

Travel Saftey Tips For You And Your Child or Children.

1. Be sure that if your driving on your trip that you take your vehicle in to be completly serviced. Be sure that your tires , oil and all fluids are checked. Don't forget your windshield wipers and brakes. By doing this you will be sure your vehicle is in great shape for your trip and you should have less to worry about.

2. Stock your back seat with coloring books , childrens books , childrens toys or childrens games to give the children plenty to do on your trip. If you keep the children busy and entertained you and them will have a much more pleasant trip.

3. Watch your children very closely in areas where there are a lot of people to prevent them getting lost. Always insist they stay with in arms reach of you. A child can vanish very quickly and ruin your vacation. Only stop for rest breaks in well lighted areas preferably with other people around. Keep your gas tank filled more often on a long trip so you don't have to get off at the dark spooky spots.

4. Always take a recent photo of each child with you. You never know when you may need it if a child were to get lost. If one of your children has a medical condition take a copy of that childs medical record with you on vacation.

5. You can use your travel experience to teach your children how they should act in public places. Be sure you give them a talk before you leave about whats going to happen on your trip or when going thru airport security. Explain why rules exist to insure their saftey and the saftey of everyone on the plane , train or etc.

6. If you are going to be hiring a babysitter at your hotel or travel destination check them out completly ahead of time. Ask before you leave home for references and call them to check them out.Always consider the saftey of your child or children first.

7. Tell your child they are never to go with a stranger no matter what. Tell them even if your not there that they are to insist to see a policeman in uniform. Be sure your children know your cellular phone number. With really small children write it in their clothing or inside their shoes. And tell them to show that to a policeman if they ever get lost or seperated from you.

Traveling with a child can present some unique challenges for you the parent but if you plan ahead there is no reason you and your child or children can't have a great time on vacation.

1. If you must take along prescribed or special medication for a child on your trip get your childs doctor to give you a letter explaining exactly what the medication is for and what it is. Its especially important to do this if you are traveling abroad.

2. Remember that children are the most prone to motion sickness. If you know in advance that your child has a problem discuss it with your childs doctor before going on your trip.

3. If you are traveling to exotic locations be sure the water you give your child or use to make your childs formula is safe. If their is any doubt at all buy bottled water and if neccessary check ahead to make sure bottled water is acailable at your destination. Be sure you wash fruit and peel it before giving it to childdren. Remember produce laws in foriegn nations are not the same as here in the USA.

4. If at all possible avoid street vendor food for your child. Eat and feed your child well before you leave your hotel or motel. Carry bottled water with you to give your child if they become thirsty.

5. Remember mosquito repellent for you and your child. Take it with you if at all possible. If in a exotic location remember malaria does still exist in some areas of the world and take precautions for you and your child. Discuss it with your childs doctor and your doctor before you leave home.

6. In foriegn countries allow your children only to swim in chlorinated pools. There are some really nasty things in freshwater in some parts of the world.

7. Remember sunscreen for you and your children especially in the tropics where your children could get a bad sun burn in a hurry.
