Rome- the Eternal City- is rich in history and culture. The sights to see in this city are countless. I will highlight some of the must-see destionations while in Rome including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Arch of Constantine. So let's get right to it.
Roman Must See Sights:
The Colosseum- Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, the Colosseum was constructed between AD 70-80 and had a capacity of 50,000 spectators. It was used for gladatorial games, public executions and other public spectacles. Possibly the most famous tourist destination in Rome, the Colosseum is visited by thousands of tourists each year and is a must see for anyone travelling to Rome. There is also now a small museum within the Colosseum so be sure to visit it too. And don't forget to enjoy taking pictures with the "gladiators" outside the Colosseum (although they will expect a nice tip for letting you do so). For more information on the Colosseum visit... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colosseum
The Roman Forum (Forum Romana)- The forum was the economic, religious and legal center of Ancient Rome. It held many temples and arches and was where the Senate met. Today it is primarily just ruins, but is a must see for any history buff as well as the tourist looking to get the full Roman experience.
The Arches of Constantine and Titus- These two arches (located next to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum) are triumphant arches. The Arch of Constantine was built to commemorate Constantine's victory at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge while the Arch of Titus was built to commemorate the sacking of Jerusalem in AD 70
The Pantheon- The Pantheon was originally built as a temple to all the Roman gods, but has been used as a Roman Catholic Church since since the 7th century. It has the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. This dome contains what is known as "The Great Eye" which is an oculus that opens to the sky.

Vatican City is the center of Roman Catholicism and the home of the Pope. The Vatican Museums contain some of the greatest works of art the world has ever known.
Vatican City Must See Sights:
St. Peter's Basilica- This basilica can hold 60,000 people and is considered to be one of the holiest places for Christians. It is traditionally considered to be the burial site of St. Peter, one of the apostles and the first pope. The dome of St. Peter's Basilica is the tallest dome in the world. The basilica also includes the "Holy Door" which is only opened for holy years like the Jubilee Year.
The Sistine Chapel- The Sistine Chapel contains artwork by some of the greatest artists in history including Michelangelo, Bernini, Raphael and Botticelli. It is the location of the Papal Conclave which is the process by which a new Pope is elected by the College of Cardinals. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take pictures in the Sistine Chapel. You can, however, take no flash pictures in the areas leading up to the Chapel itself. These areas contain magnificent works of art and it is well worth it to bring your camera because you can also take pictures outside.

The most well known must see sight in Pisa is the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The Leaning Tower began leaning soon after construction was finished. It is said that Galileo dropped two cannonballs with different masses off the tower to show that speed was independant of mass. Recent restorations have decreased the lean of the Tower. You can also go to the top of the tower. The Tower is located in Piazza del Duomo. This piazza also contains the Duomo, the Baptistry and the Camposanto.
