Travel to Beijing
51I want to travel to China one day. It's such an amazing country full of culture and beauty. Such a historical place, with the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square only naming a few of the brilliant places and sights you can take in.
Something I want to do in my lifetime is witness the spectacular enormity of an Olympics. What an amazing event – the worlds top athletes brought together in one arena to take the title for their country.
Beijing 2008
As we all know, in a mere 73 days, the Olympics will begin in Beijing, China. The Web site for Beijing 2008 is spectacular! It shows every aspect of the coming together of this enormous event. From the design of the arena, the climate control and the symbols and their meaning and relevance to the Games. From the site it shows the Olympic image elements are basic elements of the project of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Image and Look. These include the Olympic Symbol, Beijing Olympic Games emblem, its colour system, theme slogan, secondary marks, mascots, Olympic Pictogram, core patterns and a set of photographic images. Whow! So much that I didn’t know..
So now you want to go to Beijing now?
There’s so much to see and do there. The recommended sights that must be seen are Tiananmen Square, The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, and the zoo. You can download free Travel Guides of Beijing – China. This free travel guide of Beijing includes a map. It include facts like – the famous Tiananmen Square is big enough to hold one million people, while the historic Forbidden City is home to thousands of imperial rooms. It also includes information on the city including information on the cities many high rise towers, new restaurants and see and be seen nightclubs.
Then there’s the shopping! There is plenty of shopping to be had in Beijing. Mostly souvenirs, followed by rip-off designer ware, pirate DVDs, fake Chinese antiques etc. There are reasonably priced electronics however, with the lack of standards requires you to be very careful about what you buy. The return policy is non-existent in 98% of stores so they make you try your purchase out extensively before you leave the store. Credit cards are accepted in about 10% of stores but this situation is getting better.
Beijing has more bicycles in general daily use than any city in the world. However, this is changing rapidly. But bicycles are still a major tourist sight in Beijing. Who could go to China without participating in some karaoke! Beijing has a varied nightlife scene, with many different bars, discos and karaoke scenes in Beijing.
Language
If your going to go, you’ll want to have a basic if more of an understanding of the language. You can download audio lessons online, Dr Blair Chinese Mandarin in no time. Suddenly, it's up to you to save a priceless Chinese art treasure from pirates-and success will depend on your ability to learn enough Mandarin Chinese to complete your mission. Si'de ParkLongtanhu ParkWith all of their magnificent histories and cultural relics, the Chinese capital's larger parks like Beihai and the Summer Palace feature highly on the tourist's must-do list. Patrons both young and old swarm these parks at all times of the day, and during all seasons of the year. Surprisingly, it is often the latter that engage in the more strenuous activities. A common sight in a Beijing park is a chess match. Chinese chess (xiangqi) that is popular in Beijing with practically every male citizen from statesman to with crowds of middle-aged and elderly gentlemen assemble around opponents and their battered sets, offering advice. This they do whether it is wanted or otherwise. You can watch this great video about the parklife in Beijing from Trip Films.PrintShare it! — Rate it: up down flag this hub
