In the Belgian province of west-Vlaanderen(western flanders) located city of Bruges has had millions of visitors over the past decades. The famous historical Belgian city has numeral kinds of names such as the venice of the nord, the city of romance, and a few others, frankly, all of those names are correct. This is a trully amazing city to visit, and will stay in the heart of all who has seen it's marvelous historical features.

The historical centre of Bruges has been given it's place on the list of the UNESCO world heretige site, and after you have visited this wonderfull trip to the middle ages, you won't be surprised. This place is easy to visit on foot, as the city centre is closed of to cars, another option to explore is by boat over the canals or rijen as they are named and takes you on a historical trip, back to the middle ages. Just imagine, while floating over those old canals, viewing all Bruges has to offer with your loved one, wouldn't that be great? That's also one of the reasons this place is doing very well with the young couples, or newly weds. Another way, to explore the place, is by horse carriage among cobbled streets.

Although Bruges isn't that big, it will take you more than a day to explore the entire city, cause besides it's marvelous grandour of historical buildings me may not forget that it also a modern place, a trilling combination of old meeting new. The city has a lot to offer, ranging from local folklore, which is an amusing must see, to chocolate shops, local produce shops, like beers, chocolate, lace shops(which also makes bruge well known (referring to brugse kant-bruges lace). And as the Belgians are some of the greatest bourgondic people, we may not forget about the reastaurants.

The city is a true meltpot of bars, restaurants, brasseries, the one better than the other. Beer cafe's where you may taste the well known and lesser known beers of belgium, and much of these even offer over 500 different kinds of beer.

Also  as a part of  Bruges legacy, are the begijnhoven, This also has become a part of the UNESCO. Begijns are religious woman, like nons, but they don't live in a convent, they live in small houses, all together. Begijnen have made the vow of chastity, the relevent difference between begijnen and nons, is that the begijns didn't take the vow of poverty, and chose to make lace, and help the sick in order to make some kind of a living.
