Basic Treadmill Information

So what is actually a treadmil? Fitness equipment have been around a long time and the first ones were not intended for mainstream use. If you do a little digging you can find that the very first treadmills were designed for captivated users. People who were not able to leave the room to do their walking, and even if they could do some exercise they had to be monitored at all times. Prisoners were the focus group when the very first treadmills were invented so that they could have a quality workout on daily basis, and they could be guarded while doing it. Even chained to the body of the machine so they would not need to be watched over the whole time.

This evolved and not long after the exercise bikes were also developed. Similar to the treadmills the exercise bikes allowed decent workouts indoors no matter the weather was outside. The user could be easily watched over and everyone were safe while the prisoners got a good exercise. This has eventually evolved in to such things as other fitness equipment like rowing machines and elliptical trainers. Treadmills fitness equipment is not good just for the use of people who can't leave the room, but also for people who don't want to be dependant on the weather for doing their workouts. That is why the commercial exercise equipment have been developed for the use of people nowadays.

A treadmill is just basically a conveyor belt that is around one or two engines that keep the motor rolling. Electric treadmills have an electrical engine that keeps the belt moving, but the earliest manual treadmills had nothing but the leg muscles of the runner to keep the belt moving. That was actually a lot harder than the motorized models since you could not stop trying to accelerate. The friction between the rolls and the belt made it so that it felt like you were running uphill all the time. Also the anatomics of running on a treadmill were not so good with the manual models.

The pinnacle of the treadmil fitness equipment are the electric exercise equipment that have a lot of different functions. They come with more than one motors that keep the belt moving, but also have an engine to make the belt rise and lower, hence you will feel like running uphill or on a plain surface. Imagine a half an hour workout running constantly uphill! You can not do this outdoors. Besides just having the engines the modern treadmills have a lot of functions like integrated heart rate monitors that can use your polar pulse monitors belt to keep up with your hearth rate. You don't have to have a sensor attached to your ear or to hold the handles of the treadmill. This has transferred also to such equipment as elliptical exercise equipment and exercise bikes.

Fitness Equipment Workouts

You can do a lot of different workouts with just some basic fitness equipment. Elliptical exercise equipment can be easily used for a decent full body workout with altered resistance. That way a part of the workout can be aerobic or cardiovascular exercise, and you can easily increase the resistance to make it a muscle toning workout. This can also be done with any other indoor fitness equipment that have the choice of altering the resistance.

A lot of fitness fanatics start their gym workouts by using a cross trainer or a treadmill to have a good warmup. Running or cross-skiing for fifteen or thirty minutes will definitely get the blood flowing in your body and prepare your muscles and joints for the workout. After that it is easy and safe to start a gym workout with exercise equipment such as free weights and leg presses.

When using machines like elliptical trainers and treadmills fitness equipment you should always think about other things than doing the movement. The machine allows you to use specific movement paths and you should not try to force these paths, just keep moving. Instead you could focus on keeping perfect posture. Pull your shoulders back, suck in your stomach and you can build abs without doing sit ups or using the roman chair. This kind of activity will definitely help you build your posture to a perfect straight carriage.
