One of the Most Famous Books on a One Legged Person

Treasure Island.

How could you miss this one.

First published as a book in 1883 written by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Since then, there have been at least 50 television and big screen adaptations of this sensational book.

It has been adapted multiple times and has also been on the radio, practically the only thing that they didn't do to it, was make it into a musical.

A great book, not only in it's prime but even now.

It has everything that a young boy could want in a book, pirates, ships, deserted islands, treasure, mutiny and a young lad who is brave and strong as it's hero.

Ahhh, The High Seas

Brave Jim Hawkins has taken a map from the sea chest of an old pirate who has been staying at his mother's Inn.

The old pirate had told Jim that it related to Captain Flint's treasure.

He takes it to two well to do, although not very worldly friends of his and together they decide to go off in search of Captain Flint's treasure.

Unbeknownst to them, they actually hire on as crew, some of the same pirates who had had a hand in the death of the fellow staying at the Inn and they were after the treasure too.

Long John Silver, who only had one leg, was in charge of these scurvy pirates and planned to mutiny and take over the ship and find the treasure.

They were overheard by our brave lad Jim who informed the others and they took off for the Island and made a stand in and old stockade that they presumed had been built by the now deceased Captain Flint.

Getting good yet?

Told you it had everything..........

I am not going to tell you how the story ends or that will spoil it for you. You are going to have to read the book or rent the movie.

But, if you have a young lad, and you are wanting him to get hooked on reading, this is definitely the book to do it.

During my school day I have read this book and was impressed by this story. By the way my story of Tale of two brothers is now completed which due to the snag in Hubpages it had not been saved and I did not know it at all until I saw the comment.

A timeless classic, and one of my favorites! Your hub has prompted me to blow the dust off the cover and give it another read. Thanks!

Not just little boys; it was one of my favorites. Daddy loved quoting, "Fe, fi, foe, fum (or was it thumb?) I smell the blood of an Englishman. . ." And Mama would chastish him for scaring me. But, I loved it, and loved the book when I got big enough to read it.
