Natural Remedies Cure Boils

Most people will suffer the uncomfortable and sometimes painful sensations of boils at some point in their lives and these worrying lumps are most commonly caused by sweat glands or hair follicles which have become infected. Even something as simple as an ingrown hair could cause a boil to occur.

Boils are also more likely to occur through having poor health or having conditions which reduce the effectiveness of the immune system such as diabetes. First indications of a developing boil is a painful pink lump, it can in the early stages appear to be a normal spot albeit a tender one but it then starts to increase in size and fills with unpleasant puss. It is recommended to not burst the boil but to leave alone so that the infection drains naturally when it is ready.

If you are concerned and visit a doctor, they will probably offer to lance it for you and may well prescribe antibiotics to ensure there is no infection present but it is better to leave well alone unless you are really worried.

Natural remedies and complementary therapies are good for many ailments however, if the boil is extremely painful and shows signs of getting worse quite dramatically or, if there are red lines coming away from the boil then it is worth going to see a doctor as this means that any infection present has managed to enter the bloodstream. Also, visit the doctor if you have boils on a frequent basis and if they do not heal fairly quickly. The boil should have subsided fairly quickly and certainly within a two week period.

Some self-help tips if you prefer a natural method of treatment:

Tea Tree Oil

Always have tea tree oil in your natural first aid kit as it is such a good all-rounder. It is a natural antiseptic and treatment simply requires one drop of the oil directly onto the boil after washing.

Iodine

Add directly to the boil to aid killing the bacteria.

Baking Soda

Mix the soda with a little water to make a paste and apply directly to the boil and this will help to draw out any infection.

Turmeric

Turmeric can be taken internally or be used as a paste to apply directly to the boil. It can aid healing and recovery and also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Meditation

When the boil is painful and you find it difficult to sleep, try a gentle relaxing meditation to take your mind away from the pain. Meditation techniques are easy to learn and they can be used to aid and promote natural healing too.
