Fascination for all sorts of trees

For years I have been fascinated at the shapes and characteristics of different types of trees. When driving through Merredin on the way to Kalgoorlie I have always wanted to stop and draw the beautiful white gum trees, but never had the time to stop on route either to Perth or on the return trip home.

Since starting on this trip we must have taken thousands yes that's right thousands of photos of different types of trees, all showing different angles of growth. I am fascinated at the way they stretch their arms up and out reaching high above towards the stars.

Salmon gums trees lose their white bark and look as though someone has polished their beautiful boughs.

This tree is like a parasite tree sending out a type of root system that grows down until it reaches the ground from a branch.  As it grows down part of it thickens which forms these individual sections growing into the ground.

Good subject, Eileen. Trees are awesome! I visited Arizona a few years back and got to see a whole whole bunch of incredible Joshua Trees. We took pictures of each of us hanging all over 'em.
