Many people either shake their heads or shrug their shoulders when it comes to name tattoos. Obviously the most common mistake is to have a lovers name tattooed because there is always a chance in a few years time you won't be together, so you can either find another partner with the same name or try and get it covered up. Both alternatives are just as hard, lol. Anyhow personally I am a big fan of tribal tattoos and I've noticed more and more people with tribal lettering on their skin and at first glance look like an ordinary tribal tattoo. But when looked closely you can make out the letters spelling a name. That for me would be the way to go, a tribal name tattoo. At least then the name would'nt be so recognisable so to everyone else it would just be a tribal tattoo and nothing more.

With that said I don't see any harm in having family members names tattooed. for instance your children and parents names. But again I would opt for a tribal based one. For me tribal is Cool! I've seen some tribal family crests that were designed really well that I contemplated on but my biggest concern with them is placement. A crest is quite blocky and for me quite masculine. Somehow i don't think it would look too great on a petite frame like mine.
