Trick or Treating, Why Have You Forsaken Us?
53
To most parents, Halloween is just a fun day of the year where children go out and get candy, dress up & have fun. Every year the number of parents who believe this gets lower, the reason they're getting scared and they're becoming more religious.
Every Halloween you hear on the news that some child has died, or has fallen sick or is in critical condition at the hospital. No parent wants this for their child, it's because of those people who are tampering with the chocolates & the candies. If you kept hearing every year that children were being killed, would you send your children outside on trick or treating? I'd think you'd start to wonder.
Another point of view comes to mind, children are told "Don't take candies from strangers, don't talk to strangers, as a matter of fact don't have anything to do with strangers!" Yet, on Halloween all these rules are broken. Does this not mean anything?? Is this a double standard? Is this hypocrisy? We must ask ourselves.
And Halloween, what is with the scary costumes and stuff, I understand it's a time to have fun and all, but still why do some parents not insist on the fact that their children shouldn't be wearing scary costumes. There are costumes of firefighters & doctors or scientists, but most children wouldn't want to wear that. Most parents should put a foot down and not give in, to letting their children wear these scary costumes, it's not good to wear these costumes, it's "inviting the devil" as some people say.
All in all, I think that Halloween is slowly dieing out because of the people tampering with the chocolates & candies, and personally I think it's a good thing that it's dieing out.
