Trick r Treat Review
62Halloween is in the air and what better time than now to watch a good Horror flick? I have been waiting what seems like an eternity for this movie named “Trick r Treat” to finally be released and I was fortunate enough to get to experience this amazing film over the weekend.
Unlike most horror films, this movie contains four separate stories all interweaved together and influencing the next characters plot / story. You know the funny thing about this movie was that I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, and when it was over I just turned it off and thought it was pretty good. The next few days, I just kept thinking about different scenes, some of the story lines and characters in the film which made me realize that I loved this movie. Seriously, I can’t get enough!
I can’t really break down the entire plot of the movie so let me give you some juicy nuggets from each story. In the film we have a story about a serial killer and his bratty and annoying son which has a nice little twist off the bat to keep us off guard. There is a story about some super slutty looking women who are searching for dates last minute to a party in the woods; what’s the chances these beauties will be safe? Another story is about a group of kids who are collecting pumpkins to present to the dead which is a very cool story and very creepy. Lastly there is a nice tale of a man and his pooch who are terrorized by one of the coolest and most original monsters in movie history. That same creature / monster is involved in every story as sort of a Halloween Demon / rules enforcer…it’s pretty ingenious.
Every story is firmly based around the holiday of Halloween. I like that this movie is so entrenched in the holiday and sticks to it with every detail. I love the movie Halloween, but it really has little to do with the holiday and everything to do with Michael Meyers. There is a very limited number of actual Halloween based movies…I can probably come up with three or four off the top of my head. Seriously, I actually have the DVD cases stacked up on top of my head right now!
The film was shot through the eyes of a Halloween fanatic and has the atmosphere of a cool Hallows Eve night in the Midwest. The costumes were fantastic, the special effects were great and like I said before, this evil creature is bad ass!
Most of the stories have nice little twists and turns that keep you guessing, but not in an M. Night Shyamalan sort of way; they are not as drastic. The gore in the film is also nicely done; not too much, not too little. The only thing I was somewhat disappoint in was the special effects on a particular group of creatures that show themselves in one of the stories. If I tell you what the creatures are…it would ruin the story. Anyway, it was a pretty hack looking beast and it sort of took me out of the scene after seeing it. The beasts sort of looked like they were mechanical and should be sitting in some Disney haunted house exhibit…but it only lasts a minute or two. I can let that pass I suppose.
Overall, this movie is an A+ and should be rented or bought and watched before Halloween. This movie totally got me in the Halloween spirit and yesterday I took my little girls to the pumpkin patch and we carved jack-o-lanterns. Please check this movie out so sales skyrocket and a sequel can be made!

looks neat. I caught a bit of the beginning of the flick a month back or so, and never got the chance to finish it. I will have to do so now, because that sack thing looks sick. It reminds me of evil sack boy from little big planet.
