Everywhere You Turn

The cunning craftiness of marketing can shift the way a person thinks instantly. Our brain is so powerful and process stimuli within seconds and marketers know that. The shortest commercial 1 to 2 seconds. Where do you see ads like this? The cover of magazines, internet pages, newspapers billboards, etc. They are all around us and surrounding us like a swarm of nasty mosquitos, and yes, they do sting.

The other day I was in the store and I noticed the cover of this magazine that said, "Ten Tips." Within seconds my brain was processing, " Ten Tips of What " so I looked closer and it was ten tips about looking beautiful or something like that. Why did I look closer? Simple, curiosity.

You have heard of the phrase, "curiosity killed the cat." It is this same curiosity that fuels addiction of all sorts. Sex addiction, porn addiction, drug addiction, etc. it is always that first glimpse or first trial and for some it only takes a first.

We must learn to control ourselves and not allow the marketers to control us. We must put in place our action to a stimuli. Since we specialize in pornography and sexual addiction, I am going to use an example of such but it applies to all addiction and all stimuli. An sex addict is in the store and he/she sees the cover of a magazine, with so called clothes on, he/she is instantly triggered. At this point, there are a few things that could possibly happen and it is up to the individual:

1) Proceed with your shopping and try not to give it another thought

2) Entertain this stimuli

3) Recognize, yes that person is beautiful but I am taking control of my life and will not look at this further.

The third example is one that has helped many InnerGold clients because they set an action in place for the stimuli. The stimulus happened so they recognized it but they also recognized that if they don't take control of themselves, their brain could take them down a whirlwind of scenarios and possibly cause them to act out.

Set up your action to your stimuli today. Don't wait!
