Even if you live in an area where there is snow and cold part of the year, you probably enjoy the thought of a tropical beach paradise. In fact, thoughts of the beach can be especially nice on cold winter days, when there is snow and ice outside. Why not add a little bit of tropical beach to your life, even if you are nowhere close to the beach?

One great way of adding the warmth and beauty of a tropical beach to your home is by decorating a room, such as a bedroom, family room or even your office, in a tropical beach theme. There are some really beautiful tropical beach accessories available that could transform an average room into a tropical paradise. If you have some tropical beach pictures from a past vacation, dig them out and get them enlarged so that you can mat and frame them to hang on the walls of the room. Even if you do not have any tropical beach photos of your own, you can easily find some online that you could use for this purpose. Imagine waking up and looking at a picture of a beautiful tropical beach sunset, instead of thinking about the foot of snow and ice that are on the ground outside this winter. You could use one wall as simply a photo gallery for all of your tropical beach photos, if you wanted to. You could also paint a tropical beach mural on one wall of the room, if you are artistically inclined. If not, you could always find some tropical beach wallpaper or wallpaper border, and use that on one or more walls of the room, to add some additional tropical flavor to the room.

If you have actually been to the beach on vacation, you might also have some beach mementos which would blend in well with this type of decor. Accessorize the room with items such as sea shells and other items that you got on your vacation, which will not only add additional beach ambiance to the room, but also give you a good way to enjoy your beach vacation memories. Make sure to add framed photos from your vacation to the shelves, along with the sea shells. Of course, if you have not been to the beach recently, you can also buy sea shells and plenty of other beach items, both online and at the store. One great place to look for fun beach-themed items is a party store, since they almost always have supplies for beach parties and luaus for sale. If you really wanted to add some fun to the room, you could even get a plastic palm tree for the corner of the room.

Another fun way of adding some tropical beach fun to your home is to decorate your home bar so that it looks like a tropical beach club. This can be a lot of fun, not only when you are home enjoying time with your family, but also it makes a great overall theme if you are planning a party. Simply add decorations to your home bar that give it a beach club look and feel. Make sure to get some fancy glasses, and of course some cute little tropical umbrella picks to put in the drinks. You can do some online research to find recipes for delicious and beautiful tropical drinks. Add some snacks, and you will be all set for a tropical beach club party, right in your own home.

However, perhaps all of these ideas are a bit too ambitious for you, but you still would really enjoy adding a touch of the tropical beach to your life to ward off the cold gray days of winter. There are plenty of small things you can do, even at your desk or cubicle at work. Just one beautiful sea shell on your desk can be a spot of inspiration. Use a favorite tropical beach photo, or one you find online, as your computer wallpaper. There are also screen savers you can find that let you add your own photos to them, so that can be a great way of bringing the cheer of the tropical beach to your work space, even when it is cold and dreary outside.

(ARA) - It's intuitive to want to get away to tropical climates during the coldest months of the year, and because of that, the tourism industry, which has had a hard time during the economic difficulties of the last year or so, is ready to entice travelers with some great deals.

Hi Shawn,

I appreciate the tip on decorating a room in a tropical theme. I love the blue sea and white sands. Thanks
