Mention the word blue to anyone and what's the first thing that come's to mind? The Sky? the sea? These would be the first two answers yet blue comes in so many packages, colors and styles and have a numerous amount of meanings.
Blue is a colour which come's in a million shade's, the perception of which is evoked by light.....Blue is a Sapphire, a Birthstone for September.....Blue is associated with a variety of political positions..The Blues is a style of music originated by African Americans......In Thailand, Blue is associated with Friday on the Thai solar calendar. Anyone can wear blue on Fridays and anyone born on a Friday may adopt blue as their colour....... A pornographic movie is also called a blue movie..... Many football teams come in a variety of blue colors...Blue is used on dozens of flags.....Their are 100s of fish speices colored blue and spiders..Football teams have many shades of blue the list is blueming never ending!

Why is the Sky blue?
Sky Blue.
The sun is an extremely bright source of light and much brighter than the moon. The second thing to recognize is that the atoms of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere have a huge effect on the sunlight that passes through them and the physical phenomenon called Rayleigh causes light to scatter when it passes through particles that have a diameter one tenth that of the wavelength of the light. Sunlight is made up of all different colors of light, but because of the elements in the atmosphere the color blue is scattered much more efficiently than the other colors. So take a look at the sky on a clear day and all you will see is the sun as a bright disk. The blueness you see everywhere else is all the atoms in the atmosphere scattering blue light toward you and red, yellow and green light, and the other colors aren't scattered nearly as well so that's why you see the sky as blue.

Eye color usually stabilizes when an infant is about 6 months old. Eye color is a polygenic trait and is always determined primarily by the amount and type of pigments in the eye's iris. Humans and animals have many phenotypic variations in eye color. In humans, these variations in color are attributed to varying ratios of eumelanin produced by melanocytes in the iris...

Psychics say someone with a Blue aura tend to be spiritual. In Thailand Blue is associated with Friday. In Southern California Hispanic Gang members That Identify themselves as "Surenos" (spanish for Southerners) wear Blue and use blue rags which were one of the first gangs to use a color to identify themselves. Also The Crip Gangs use Blue to identify themselves. In the US the Democrats are represented by Blue and in the UK the Conservative Party is. Just thought I would add a few more. Great Hub!
