True Crucifixion and Resurrection
59Empty Sepulchre
The true details from Burial to Resurrection
Christ’s crucifixion took place on Passover day, the 14th Nisan, the first month in A.D. 31, in which the Passover fell on a Wednesday 25 April AD 31. This also concludes the prophecy in Daniel “cut off…in the midst of the week”, also a double for the 70 weeks of Daniel.
Dan:9:26: And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Da:9:27: And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Wednesday falls in the middle of the week also the day the Passover fell in A.D. 31. According to the Roman calendar, this date was Wednesday, April 25 between the ninth and twelfth hour 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., Jesus Christ died
Lu:23:44: And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
Lu:23:45: And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
Lu:23:46: And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
With Pilate’s permission, Joseph of Arimathaea claimed the body, and wrapped it in linen.
Joh:19:40: Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. and placed it in the sepulcher
Lu:23:50: And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
Lu:23:51: (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
Lu:23:52: This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
Lu:23:53: And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
Lu:23:54: And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
Lu:23:55: And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
Lu:23:56: And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
By the time the burial was complete, the Sabbath “drew on”. Thus, the burial took place on Passover day, shortly before sunset.
This Passover was a preparation day, in that it preceded an annual Sabbath. This annual Sabbath, called the First Day of Unleavened Bread, was called a high Sabbath or “high day” and fell on a Thursday that year.
Joh:19:31: The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
It was on this day that the high priest and the Pharisees came to Pilate to ensure that Christ’s tomb was guarded and sealed
M't:27:62: Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
M't:27:63: Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
M't:27:64: Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
M't:27:65: Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
M't:27:66: So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
M'r:16:1: And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
This occurrence takes place on the Friday, in the next verse we go to Sunday morning.
M'r:16:2: And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
The sabbath mentioned is the high Sabbath on the Thursday because they would not have been able to buy on the Saturday Sabbath, and this left only Friday for the items to be bought. As in this verse
Lu:24:1: Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.,
Lu:24:2: And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
Lu:24:3: And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Lu:24:4: And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
Lu:24:5: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
Lu:24:6: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
M'r:16:2: And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
Joh:20:1: The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Jesus Christ was resurrected on Sunday the first day of the week, before sunrise while it was still dark. The resurrection never occurred at sunrise or during the day.
Jesus Christ was in the grave for three days and three nights. Jesus Christ was placed in the tomb just before sunset on Wednesday. Three complete days and three nights bring us to the end of the weekly Sabbath to just before sunset, then he was resurrected as Jesus said in
M't:12:40: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

i think not.
do you not understand that a day to a Hebrew is any part of a day? and the day starts at sundown and ends at sundown?
so if He died late Friday before dark and Shabbat started, which is at sundown, that is day 1. (because He dies during the daylight of that day) then all day on Sat. is day 2 and He rose on Sun in the morning day 3.
if He died late Wed. day 1, then Thur. Fri. Sat. and rise on Sun. morning, that is 5 days to a Jew.....
a Hebrew would laugh you out of the park.
sorry, we do not count days like Americans and neither did The Master.
ask any Jew this, i mean if you want to know.
think about it man, if you discount part of Wed and part of Sunday...what are those?....free?
it's 5 days the way you count.

Thanks, the incorrect crucifixion is the Catholic version. 3 days and 3 nights is what Jesus said and not a day missing.
Go well

Thanks for your comment, but your maths is slightly out and missing days. 6pm to 6pm is one night and one day = 24Hrs = 1day. Sabbath is 6pm to 6pm in your maths Jesus would have risen Monday evening to be exact. 3days and 3 nights. M't:12:40
Should read the hub again its all recorded verse for verse.
Go well
I said that any part of a day was counted as a day and if we thought about it, we do the same thing even now.
If I say "Joe went to the hospital yesterday and gets out tomorrow"....how many days is that to you that Joe was in the hospital?...
Do you ask me "what time did he go in yesterday and what time does he get out tomorrow? and then calculate in your head the total number of hours, divided it by exactly 24 and argue with me that it is not 3 days, but based on a 24 hour day, it is only 1.625 days?
Say Joe goes in at 6pm yesterday, stays all day today and gets out at 9 am tomorrow. how many days is that? It's 39 hours divided by 24 like you think and that's 1.625 days.
Hebrews do not calculate like that and if you think about it, Americans do not either. Nobody goes around calculating parts of days and divides them by 24 hours like I just did in the example.
If you are paying someone by the hour and they worked those 39 hours then you would pay them the 39 hours. If you are paying them by the day and they work 12 hours a day, you pay them for the days.
You do not expect them to work 24 hours a day to get paid for a day do you?
Messiah dies on Friday in the daylight. Day 1. He is in the tomb all day Saturday. Day 2. He rises on Sunday morning. Day 3. Again any part of a day is counted as a day.

Your maths is not Gods maths or Hebrew maths. Jesus spelt it out, for us to see.... 3days and 3 nights. M't:12:40. Doesnt matter what we say,its his plan and he fulfilled it 100%. Jews sabbath law is 6pm to 6pm one day and one night.
So read it again its straight forward. The ninth hour is 3pm in the afternoon, jews calculate from 6am to 6pm 1 day time. Jesus was placed in the tomb, after 3pm (9hour). 6pm was the start of the sabbath.
Nothing difficult here to understand.
Go well
Tell me when you think night starts.
you say he was dead on wed during the daylight hours and placed in the tomb, so he spent that night in the tomb. (1 night)
then you say he is in there thurs. all day (1 day) thurs. night (2nd night) friday all day (2nd day) friday night all night (3rd night) sat. all day (3rd day) sat. all night (4th night)
Shaul Stein
Wed night6pm to 6am 1Night.Thursday day 6am to 6pm 1day.Thursday night 6pm to 6am 1night.Friday day 6am to 6pm.Friday night 6pm to 6am.Saturday day 6am to 6pm. Completed all days and nights.Rose from the grave probably Saturday night slightly before sunset or just after sunset 6pm. Grave was already empty by Sunday morning before sunlight see Mary Mags was at the grave while still dark.
Got it now.
Go well

Thank you. I have read the same explanation a few times and I agree that it is correct. Jesus said He would be three days and three nights in the tomb.
If Jesus died on Friday, He could not be in the tomb three days and three nights. The calculation does not add up. I hope more people will read this. God bless.
