No More Cable Fees!
I can hardly believe this new technology! I saw an ad the other day to convert my PC to a TV by using Satellite! Well, of course you hear about things like that all the time and I always assume there is some sort of catch.
The ad said that for just pennies, a person -- with ZERO technical skills -- could instantly begin getting all of their favorite channels -- in fact 3500 of your favorite channels -- to watch on your PC. I suspect there are many youngsters out there who say -- "What is the big deal? Of course you can!" But, being more than slightly out of date with all of the new techno-whiz-stuff that is currently on the market, I had no idea.
The ad went on to say I could disconnect my cable - which I am currently paying almost $100 a month for -- and I only get about 500 channels, which honestly is more than enough for me. But the ad also promised me access to my favorite movies and channels from all over the world! I'm taking a French class at our local community college, so I was vaguely interested to think about practicing my French while listening in to French TV. Plus, I really love the whole Sarkozy family -- tres chiq!
Still, I worried that I wouldn't be able to Tivo and cut out the advertisements. And I also was worried that our new surround sound on our 50 inch flat screen TV would no longer scare the socks off me when the big boomer rocked the house during scary shows! (I really love it when that happens!) Finally, when I heard Satellite I immediately thought about those wonky dishes that people have on their houses that may or may not work in bad weather.
What I found was, that the new technology taps into the 3500 channels and streams it across the Internet -- no dish required! All I needed was an Internet connection -- which I obviously have! Then I found, that once you've signed up, it is easy to connect your PC to your TV and Viola! All the comforts of Tivo and surround sound!
Oh and I also found out it works on a PC or MAC! Plus the best part is -- there is a TINY one time fee and NO MONTHLY FEES! I was flabbergasted!
Channels include movies, sports, local news an channels -- its pretty amazing!
My husband has ordered it -- we're still keeping our cable service until I know we can work it properly, but I just think it is so fascinating!
Clever these techno geeks! If you think you might be interested, click here!
