Trying To Get Pregnant: When is the right time to have intercourse for conception with an irregular menstrual cycle?
78If you are trying to get pregnant and have an irregular cycle, your only choice is to get regular first. An appointment with an ob-gyn would help a lot. Getting a regular cycle would mean putting you on the pill for maybe 2 months or so. Then the doctor might decide make you stop on the 3rd month.
Once you get you period naturally on the 4th month count day one as the 1st day you got your period from that day count 11 days. so let's say you got your period October 1st, Oct. 1st will be day one and day 11 would be Oct. 11 you have one week to ovulate which is from Oct 11 to 18. Since no one can predict whether your egg will drop on a specific day from the 11th to the 18th try having sex on the 13th, 14th and 15th to insure that you will get pregnant; but if you have the stamina why not have sex the whole week.
In some cases when you are 30 years and older and you are still irregular you might have to check with your doctor. It is likely you have a problem. So to be safe make an appointment.
Hope this helps.

hello, birth control pills are used to regulate your cycle. a woman only produces 1 egg every month (others none at all or sometimes 2-for twins). if your body doesn't know how to produce an egg then you are in big trouble. your main problem is screwing up your body's cycle since you said you weren't regularly taking it when you were on it and off it. Age makes a huge difference as well. when a woman hits 30 her ability to produce healthier eggs lessens. If you would just ask around and not get professional help then I hope you have an ob-gyn friend. No one else is better to answer your questions but a doctor. Also when you do get pregnant you would be in a doctor's office every month so why even try to avoid them. Believe me when i say i have met a lot of people having the hardest time getting pregnant. I am an experienced egg donor and surrogate.
I guess I was unclear. My cycle wasn't regular while on birth control and it is still not regular off of birth control. And no, when I am pregnant I wouldn't be in a doctor's office every month. Having a doctor and giving birth in a hospital are not the only birth options available, in fact I have decided on midwifery. Gynos are surgeons, usually men, who are given no birthing practice before given their doctorine, so basically have no actual experience going into the field. On the other hand, child birth is all that nurse midwives study and practice. Far better than any doctor and not nearly as expensive.
And you don't worry that you have an irregular cycle? If you feel men is predominating the practice then you surely haven't been checking out around. All my doctors were women. From the perinatal specialist who took care of my high risk situation to the ob-gyn who did my c-section. I commend every woman out there who wants to make a different birth experience. I even met a couple who wanted to have their child given birth at home because the woman was a midwife and thought she can deliver with her husband's help. They did no ultrasounds, they did no special hospital treatments or tests. And you know what? They risked their child's life because they thought they where brave enough. They ended up having a c-section in a hospital. Surely if you think you know better than you shouldn't have posted the topic. Clearly you weren't open to suggestions. If you just want to listen to hearsay than i bid you goodluck. There are not a lot of brave people like you that I know of.
I have a really irregular cycle, and my boyfriend and i have been trying to conceive, I have been on the pill and it worked well but then I came off and my period came for about 3- 4 months after and still nothing. I am currently not taking the pills, should I start a new regiment and then try again?
hi lola,
it is very tricky with irregular cycles. some would work some wouldn't if they were put on the pill. another question is how old are you? a friend of mine had the same problem and she was only 27. the doctor's soluition; they put her on infertility meds and she now has a baby boy.
Madam i have too have same irregular periods.. i dont know when can i have contact to get pregancy... i have polycyst ovaries .. Do i become pregant soon or else what are the steps i have to be taken to get pregancy soon
I can only suggest that u see a doctor for your condition. I wouldn't know if it is even safe for u to get pregnant. Sorry i have no definite answer.

Thanks, but I didn't find this very helpful. I really do not understand the concept of the dr putting you on bc if you are trying to get pregnant. Doesn't make any sense to me. I was on bc already for about 4 1/2 years, but stopped taking it about 2 1/2 years ago. Wasn't regular on it, and not regular off it. I was looking for more helpful information and possibly advice from someone's personal experience. I would rather try all the peer advice I can first before having to spend money for help from a professional. I'm not a big fan of doctors, especially when most doctors are males and this is a female issue.
