Have You?

Have you ever made something by hand for fun?

Have you ever been to a flea market and seem some handmade crafts for sale and thought... I could make that myself?

Have you ever thought of turning your fun craft making into cash?

You can!

Unique

You'll want to create things that are unique. Things that people will see and say; "wow that's cool!" Things that people will want/need/BUY!!!

I recall an episode of (I think it was K.O.T.H.) King Of The Hill where Peggy(the wife) made little pigs out of 1 gallon water jugs. She made all of them differently so there was like a teacher and a nurse and such.

You should come up with new ideas that you have not seen before.

Funky sunglasses, funny dog outfits, christmas ornaments, key chains, etc.

Just be unique!

Seasonal

Just about any time that you deal with sales you have to follow the seasons.

When you go to the grocery store you usually see items for upcoming holidays. You should plan ahead in the same way.

Mix your unique ideas with holidays and seasons.

Such as; funny CHRISTMAS dog outfits, or funky SPRING sunglasses.

Signed

You want to be remembered, maybe one day you will become famous for your handcrafted goodies. So find a way to mark or sign everything you produce and sell.

You can even number your items such as; 1/20 or 1/1 for "rare" items.

Limited Numbers

Don't overload the market! If you are creating things that you can slightly change, like the pigs I mentioned, then make small changes and number them and create a limited number of them. Then you can explain that they are rare and one of a kind!

Where To Sell

Flea markets are great for crafts!

There's also arts and crafts fair that allow you to rent a booth and sell your crafts.

There are bird fairs, dog fairs, cat fair, etc. In case you are making things related to animals.

Ebay is not the best market for handmade things but you can try it if you have some very unique items.

Craigslist.org is a good one. There are a lot of people on craigslist that are looking for a huge variety of items.

You can have a garage sale.

Rent a booth or space at local mall.

Consign at consignment shops.

You can even go to local restaurants and ask to rent a space/counter at they're front door for gifts and such.

Be creative!
