Turn Ordinary Matchsticks Into A Work Of Art
72
This personally made royal Bugatti coupe ,which is "unique"one of a kind, and (not made from a matchstick model kit) is 17" in length, 4" high and 7" wide, and "heavy" with up to 300 separate components which makes up this truly magnificent piece of art and much better I think than any other matchstick model Ive seen..
Attention has been paid to every detail.right down to the hand made upholstered seating, the steering wheel and the dials all made entirely of matchsticks. the bonnet also opens up to reveal a matchstick made engine and also the doors and boot opens. it makes a really good talking point and people find it hard to believe its actually made of matches, which is why I'm glad I left the base of car totally raw so you can actually see its made of matches which makes another striking feature to this model, As you can see in the picture, the angel and the front right bumper has been replaced but yet unvarnished..
As to it's value I have no idea...
The Reason I Made It.
I was involved in a serious car accident while cycling in the dark on a dual carriage way with no lights and suffered 2 broken legs a broken arm and severe scaring but I was lucky to be alive..
While in hospital the police came to visit me because of the extensive damage, not juist to me and my bike! but also the car which hit me which was a royal bugatti. The police never charged me with any crimes, or took the matter any further.
While in hospital It wasnt just the injuries I was suffering but the severe boredom which I had to alliviate so I thought I would make the car which hit me out of matchsticks after i saw the patient next to me was covering his tobacco tin with them, so I asked the doctors to provide me with a picture of the car that hit me, and purchased a big bag of matches (without the heads) and proceeded to match away..I donn't know if this is the exact make and model but it looked like a nice car to try to make because of the many challenges i would have with all the circular components and curves i would have to try and acheive.
Four months later and many challenges along the way, for example I was not sure how I was going to make many of the components such as the lights but it soon came to me with the help of a tooth paste tube lid which I covered with tissue and placed the matches around them and using cotton to tie them in place while the glue stuck and with a bit of sanding down, wallah, 2 head lights, and 4 months later one car..
I felt and still feel very privaliged to be hit by such a beautiful car, although i was told it was not in the best of state before it hit me! If you have a creative side in you and you want to start matchstick modeling, don't let nothing but your imagination and a bag of matchsticks and glue stop you!

Thanks for your compliment. Unfortuently it has been sitting in a box in my cubourd for the last umpteen years and I only get it out to show my friends as its so fragile..
I was told I should contact "Ripleys beleive it or not" as they used to recruit a guy in America called Patrick Acton who's a world famous matchstick modeller who used to make models for them but he did not want to sell them to him anymore but I have yet to contact them as I don't think I have the patience anymore for such detailed and delicate and time consuming work.
