Twenty 20 is the first Malayalam Movie to be produced by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artisits (AMMA). This film features 6 Heroes and 6 Heroines in the lead. Lalettan Mohanlal and Superstar Mammootty join hands with Dileep, Sureshgopi, Prithviraj and jayaram in this film.

And the female leads includes Bhavana, Gopika, Kavya madhavan and Nayantara in one item number.

The comedy brigade includes Innocient, Harsree Asokan, Cochin Haneefa, kalpana, Jagadish, Jagadhy, Sreekumar, saleem Kumar in the role but they make jovial when going gets heavy.

Even though it was heavily raining, it was an almost a houseful show. Filled with lal fans showing the power with "lalettan ki jai"s. Northies and tamilians came to see what is happening in front of Screen 6.

Atlast film started. First 10-20 minutes were really sluggish and waste. Kalpana, harisree asokan, kochin haneefa and biju kuttan have nothing to do instead of some buffooneries and low class comedies.

Suresh Gopi's introduction scene was good. Mammootty's intro was really nice and he is undoubtedly the most glamorous hero of Malayalam. People started clapping when the shadow of Lalettan was shown on the screen. After the intro of Lalettan, the movie took its real pace. Even though the 'post-court scene' was a copy from Deewangee, it will make a long lasting impression in the minds. Lalettan's change from one poor Devan to Devaraja Prathapa Varma was incredible and the most memorable scenes of the movie. Everyone was clapping on those scenes and lal fans were jumping over the seats seeing the real intro of Devaraja Prathapa Varma. We can see the real domination of a character over the other. They could’ve given some pause in the film to finish the claps in the theater.

Suresh Gopi, Mohanlal and Mammootty got almost equal number of scenes. But Mohanlal got more punch dialogues most of them over Mammootty. He utilised it to the maximum to get the claps from fans and audience. Even in single scene there were many punches to clap continuously. After the jumping scene he says "nee padicha schoolole headmasterada njan", then just after that "vakkeele chaadanda, kaalodiyum" all these got continuous appreciation from the audience. In dialogues Mohanlal dominated over all the other actors. After lal i think, Suresh Gopi got more firebrand punches. Even he looked in the old 'Commissioner' form in a scene with Mammootty, where Mammootty comes to his home to confess while Suresh Gopi was drinking.

Mammootty got a neat and decent role without any firebrand dialogues. I expected some “King” model dialogues, but he was kept a low profile comparing Mohanlal’s and Suresh Gopi’s performance. I felt like some so called punches given to him like “njan pambatti kudumbathil ninnalla” was written by T A Razak. Because those were felt very silly. I sincerely feel that script and dialogues didn’t do justice to Mammootty. Now I understood why he asked Joshi to modify some scenes.

Comedy was average or below average from a bunch of people like Kalpana, Kochin haneefa and all. But Salim Kumar was too good to handle Induchoodan alias Narasimham IPS. Suraj did well, but he seems to have same old tricks with the slang. Jagathy was wasted. Innocent was good at sometimes. Undapakru did well eventhough he got only one scene.

Madhu and Ponnamma did their role decently. Sidhique, Vijayaraghavan, Saikumar, Shammi thilakan, Manoj K jayan and Indrajith could fit to their roles well. Prithvi, Kuchakko and Manikuttan got nothing to do in the film instead of sizzling with Nayanthara.

Jayaram and Dileep were good in their roles. People howled for Dileep’s entry, but he got much appreciation for his comedies later. His expression while he was stabbed on the back was perfect.

Almost all the lady characters were wasted. Bhavana was not up to the mark, but comparatively better when considering many others like Kalpana and Kavya. Sad to know that Roma’s scenes were removed. Bhavana cannot make an impact on you acting wise, but her belly movements in ‘oh priya’ song can make a big impact in your heart and it can tickle the sensitive areas. I sincerely felt that if IV Sasi was given a chance to take that song he could’ve explored it better.

Many actors were coming and going on the screen. Mukesh did his part decently. Sreenivasan was good even though he got only one scene. Nice to see Idavela Babu in the silver screen, even though he is busy with the schedules of Guruvayoorappan serial.

Songs were just average. Stunts were also not that appreciable; including lalettan’s diving scene and the final stunt where Mammootty and Mohanlal kicking the people in air like Tamil heroes. We can see the rope movements in many scenes. Overall Twenty-20 was an average entertainer on the screen and a terrific entertainer in our minds just because of the cat n mouse games of the superstars. But anyone can understand that the total movie was mere compromise to the superstars.

Thanks to Sibi-Udayans who converted an average story into an entertaining script. Joshi was good, but he was nowhere near to his old form. Thanks to Dileep, who made this movie putting his time and money. Nice to see he is getting good result in terms of money.

Last but not least, thanks to sensible Chennai audience who were making waves for Prem Naseer, Satyan master and Silk Smitha. When the face of Jayan was shown on the screen it was terrific response from the people. Nice to see, even the Chennai metro people love and respect these old heroes.
