Twitter is the lazy person's blogger! It's the hottest Web 2.0 tool of the moment and I think if used correctly can absolutely launch your network marketing or MLM business exposure into orbit.

When used correctly...

It's like a mini or micro blog. By it's very nature (only allows you 140 characters per tweet) it forces you to be succinct and to relay your message with few words.

So what do you Tweet about? Golden rule number one. NOT your MLM or Network Marketing business. Please don't fall into the trap of being an 'MLM Moron!'

Oh darn it, some might say. So this is getting complicated. What do I say then?

The answer is you talk about everything but your Network Marketing or MLM business! You provide value and you attract a following, or an audience of people who are like-minded.

It's important to think about your branding and give a clear message about what you stand for and who you are. Here are some things I recommend you do to be 'attractive' and 'magnetic' on twitter:

1)Put up a photo of YOU. This is all about YOU Inc. (Not a plate of strawberrries!)

2)Have a good link preferably to your blog. Perry Belcher gives an amazing training on Social Media and you can read my 'Winning with Twitter' Review on my blog (RSS feed at bottom of this page) about how the whole Social Media Party revolves around your blog.

3)Never spam people on Twitter with predictable and boring messages about your MLM or Network Marketing company. Always provide value about how and what to do. If they are looking for an opportunity they will find it through you as you build the relationship with them online.

4) Be interesting and be you. Find what you love and share it with Social Media. If you love making videos then make a lot of fun videos and tweet them out there to your Twitter universe. If you are a book worm then share inspirational tips about books you're reading that can help with ie; Network Marketing and MLM. (Relate these things to your target market ie; unless you are a writer of romantic novels don't tweet about Mills & Boon!)

5)There are mixed opinions about sharing what you're eating. People do want to know what you're doing but I generally wouldn't bore my followers with the latest dinner I had unless it is incredible or I'm a chef and want to build that target market.

6)Always be positive. Twitter is a place for positive minded people and they don't come on Twitter to be depressed. At this grassroots stage of Twitter you can attract some real rainmakers and these people are building huge audiences.

7) Follow interesting people who are in Network Marketing, MLM, Social Media, Marketing and other things relevant to your business. Re Tweet their stuff. (Like this RT @Rachelhenke) Show you are not a Selfish Marketer.

8) Easiest way to keep your Twitter organised is with Tweetdeck.com If you're feeling out of your depth with how to send the Direct Messages (D) or the Retweets (RT) then Tweetdeck has an automatic menu option that allows you to choose the action and it provides the appropriate precurses to the message. It also allows you not to miss messages that have been sent to you. It's an amazing and timesaving tool.

Short answer: you don't! You build your 'list' with Twitter using Web 2.0 technology. The money comes later as a result of your marketing process.

You attract the right people to you based on what you Tweet and what value you provide. Talk about niche and targeted marketing this is awesome.

Be a giver not a taker. Improve your communication skills and make friends with people. Tweet often and as it takes a few seconds to Tweet time is not an issue. Winning with Twitter is a process and is a key tool for building an ever expanding list of responsive contacts who are watching what you're doing.

Have fun with Twitter and share your experiences. Ping out your blog link every now and again when you produce some valuable content and draw people into your world.

Be Sociable and try to be normal. Yes I know it's difficult! Us Network Marketers are very focussed and can find it tricky to chat about the weather. This is next generation network marketing and it is time for you to have fun in your business.
