Twittering for Success in Network Marketing
63How Twittering Can Help You In Your Network Marketing Business
Birds do it, bees do it, even educated MLM gurus do it. What is it that they are all a flutter about?
Twittering of course. If you haven't heard of it yet, then you will very soon.
Mike Dillard, one of the most well-known gurus in Network Marketing today just sent out an e-mail to his list (let me explain that his list is 100,000+) with a link to his twitter account.
If Mike Dillard, the author of some of the most well-known Attraction Marketing courses for the 21st Century in Network Marketing; Magnetic Sponsoring, MLM Traffic Formula and most recently, Black Belt Recruiting, is using Twitter to network, then it MUST be the wave of the future. Mike is no slouch when it comes to the latest and greatest trends in Network Marketing..
So what exactly is Twittter?
Well, taken right from the front page of their website, "Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?"
It is a quick, interactive method of communicating what you are doing using a sentence or two and sending it out to all of your followers. Similar to Facebook and MySpace, Twitter is social networking and it is a great way to stay in touch with your friends and business associates with the main word here being "quick".
You see, quick and easy is what separates Twitter from the rest of the social applications out there. Facebook and My Space are great for networking also, but you can easily log onto your Twitter account, type in a sentence or two about what you are doing and - presto - it is posted on several other sites throughout the internet that you have created content for in the past. People can follow you throughout your day simply by reading your other posts. Squidoo, Facebook and Blogs come to mind immediately.
Let's say you have a squidoo page you have created for your followers with lots of great information about Network Marketing, resources, etc. Within that page, you have the ability to add modules, one of them being a Twitter module. Once you have added this module, every time you log into your Twitter account and update your status, it is posted on the squidoo page. Facebook and blogs offer similar tools. People can "follow" you on Twitter and see what you are up to at that moment in time. Very real-time and user friendly.
What exactly is "following"?
With Twitter, you have followers and you can follow others. They are basically your network of friends. Followers are people on the Twitter site that choose to follow what you are doing. Whether you are catching up on your work, updating your blog, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home; you communicate with the Twitter world about it.
If you find someone who is doing something of interest to you, whether it is a personal activity that you share in common, or a business interest, you can follow that person and keep up-to-date on their activities. They can likewise follow you if they so choose. This is considerd micro-blogging - not quite blogging since it is just a sentence or two, but still keeping within the same vein by updating your audience on your day or business activities.
Twitter only allows a maximum of 140 characters at a time so you keep it short and simple. But this is extremely effective. It enables you to read through a lot more content quickly and catch up on your friend's activity for the moment. Twitter refers to these little one or two sentences as "tweets" and you can tweet all day long if you so choose.
So how can Twitter be used for Network Marketing?
You can use Twitter to send updates to content you have created for your business. It is great exposure and a great way to promote your business. Include links to sites you find interesting or educational at the same time as you link to the content-sharing sites you have created on the internet. People get to know you through your micro-blogging and you can build powerful relationships this way for your business.
One or two sentences is all it takes and you can reach a very large audience with the touch of a button
Remember, though, this is a social networking site, not a "promotional" site. You need to be careful to not overly promote anything. As with all other social networking sites, being seen as a "taker" and not a "giver" is a turn-off and if you have ever been spammed, you understand this concept.
Social networking is about building relationships and if you don't take the time to do that, then don't bother creating an account. Being selfish in Network Marketing is old school and you need to adopt the new school principles of Attraction Marketing if you want to succeed in today's market.
The basis of Attraction Marketing is to give value first, promotion second. Follow this basic rule of thumb and you will find Twitter to be a powerful tool for networking on-line. You must build relationships first with your followers and those you follow.
If you provide powerful, valuable information, peple will want to follow your updates and form relationships with you.
Twitter is a lot of fun and it is starting to cause a stir in the social networking scene.
If you still do not understand the concepts of Attraction Marketing, then you need to learn them fast or the trend will get ahead of you and you will be left behind. Providing value is your first priority and if you still aren't sure what type of value you offer, then you need to become a student of Social Networking now because this is definitely the new way of marketing for today's Network Marketers.
Start Twittering - it's fun and will help you grow your network and business at the same time.
Happy Twittering!

Until others get to Mike Dillard's status in internet marketing..... it gonna take a lot of work. Twitter is great for updating your followers. As far as getting real followers and not people just doing it because will take some time. I build my twitter following from my opt -ins.

I love to get others opinions and post them. I think this all adds value for everyone involved.
thanks Anita - Twitter is the social site to get involved with these days. I think it's a great tool, and I like to take the relationships I start at Twitter and move them over to Facebook, email, phone, etc... as they move forward so we can have more room to interact. Thanks for sharing!
