Learn How To Recognize The Types Of Acne Scarring

When we begin puberty we are excited to begin a new cycle in our lives. It is the time that we become young adults and we start to see the world differently and feel differently. Not only are we finally getting taller then the other people around us and growing in important features that will define us later in life - but we also feel more confident about ourselves. That is until the negatives of puberty start to show.

One of the worst things about puberty is acne. Some go through it in small stages and others will have large breakouts for many years. This medical condition will affect most people. It is not always understood why it will affect them and why some people will have severe acne that will cause scarring of the face. During acne scarring the collagen in the skin is damaged from inflammation that will change the way that the skin looks.

There are different types of acne scarring. They are atrophic scarring, ice pick scarring, and hypertrophy scarring.

Boxcar Scarring

These scars are depressed, steeply angled, and round shaped. They look very close to chickenpox scars.

Ice Pick Scarring

These scars have steep edged and are deep pitted into the skin.

Hypertrophic Scarring

These scars are more often found on the chest and back. They can be found on the surface of the skin and are thick and lumpy.

All of these scarrings (except for hypertrophy scarring) will occur more commonly on the face. When this happens they are defined as face acne scars. One of the most common signs of acne scars is discoloration. This is easy to treat - but it may take up to several years for them to completely fade away.

The color changes in these scars are categorized in three ways: post inflammatory erythema (purple and pink patches where the acne is), post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (black and brown patches), and post inflammatory hypopigmentation (white marks where the acne has healed). Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation will usually affect those with darker skin or those who have the ability to tan easily. Tanning will worsen the look of acne.

Let me begin by saying that this is NOT a "glowing review" as one person put it of the Made from Earth Rosehip Face Serum. I can honestly say that this is the one moisturizer I have found that doesn't feel like I have slicked body lotion on my face. All other moisturizers feel heavy and if I sweat, let's say in the summertime, they start to melt and make me even more uncomfortable. This is not the case with the Made from Earth Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum!!! I love this thing and i went from rarely ever using moisturizer (b/c i couldn't find a good one) to using it every day. It smells great with no fragrence, but I think the hibiscus gives it a light aroma. . .it's kinda soft and flowery. I highly recommend this moisturizer. . .you can find it at madefromearth.com. . .its cheaper online (even with shipping) than buying it at the mall or Sephora...I believe Sephora sells it for over $30!

Not long ago I began experiencing acne breakouts on my chin. My dermatologist actually laughed at me being 35 and still experiencing acne. What's a girl to do when her dermatologist laughs at her?

This determined girl took matters into her own hands and began a rigorous routine of research until I came across an oil-free (and chemical free) moisturizers and a line of organic products that I had not tried before.

I purchased a 2 ounce bottle of Made from Earth's oil-free Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum and within days of using it, my chin had cleared up completely and I've not experienced any more breakouts as with some other moisturizers. Chock full of certified organic ingredients, 100% vegetarian ingredients, powerful antioxidants free of parabens, synthetics and petroleums, how could my skin not respond in a wonderful, healing way?

Since Made from Earth products are created with certified organic ingredients - they do no harm. Instead of the typical water base used in most product ingredients. While the Rosehip Serum works great, I have now moved onto the "Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer" which has really made my cheecks real rosy.

I recommend you start with the Made from Earth Rosehip Serum - and then once the acne is cleared up, use the Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer to maintain that great complextion. Good luck!
