Asbestos is known as a deadly substance which is acutally a siliacate mineral that can cause lung cancer, Mesothelioma, asbestosis and a host of other health problems. The term refers to a variety of substances, not a single mineral which has the appearance of crystals with separable long fibers.

Asbestos is a general name that applies to several types of fibrous silicate minerals.Prolonged exposure to asbestos can cause individuals to develop serious diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer.

There are different types of asbestos.

Blue Asbestos - Blue asbestos, or crocidolite, has been known to be one of the worst types of asbestos.Blue asbestos has more chances of causing Mesothelioma when compared to  white asbestos, due to the long thin fibers in blue asbestos.

White Asbestos - The white form of asbestos is the fibrous form of Chrysotile.(Serpentine). This is considered as a very bad mineral because it always appears in the fibrous form.

Brown Asbestos - Amosite or brown asbestos is made from light gray or brown fibers. It is mostly used for insulating purposes. Most of the countries have banned this amosite many years ago.
