Delving Into the Different Types of Wall Tiles
72It is more common these days for people to be into do it yourself or DIY projects around the home. By doing it yourself, you can fix up your home without having to pay for an expensive contractor. There are many projects that can be done easily. One of these easier projects is installing wall tiles. This article will discuss the different types of tiling and the ease of application.
The easiest type of wall tiles to install is the peel and stick tiles. These wall tiles come with a protective backing the holds the adhesive. These tiles are so easy to use because you do not need to worry about applying mortar or grout to set them in. All you need to do is peel off the backing and then place them where you want them to go. You can install them over existing tiles or walls with little or no preparation.
These types of tiling come in a wide array of styles and colors. They come in the most common faux stone types and colors that could be found in tiles that require more application time. While they are not made of the same material as tiles that require grouting, they look just the same. They are easier to apply and cutting to fit awkward areas is not difficult as they can be trimmed with household scissors.
The next type of wall tiles is the ceramic type. These tiles come in the widest range of colors and designs. Ceramic wall tiles are very popular as they hold up well to any type of climate and are easy to install. Because of the variety of patterns they can be used in highly decorative ways.
To install ceramic wall tiles you will need to use mortar and grout. You should make sure the area is free of debris and that any tiles are removed before installation. Use the mortar and grout according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This way you will have a professional looking tiling job.
The final type of wall tiles that will be discussed here is the stone tile. These tiles come in many different types of stone from marble to natural river stone. The tiles that are stone and that belong to the marble family will all be in one piece and you can order the size of tile that you want. The river stones are a group of small stones that have been placed on a mesh screen that will adhere to the mortar and grouting.
Stone is popular as it a natural look that many crave when doing their
bathrooms. The installation of these
types of tiles is the same as ceramic tiling.
When you are installing any type of wall tiles you should always have a
chalk line set up so that you will have a straight line of tiles. It is also important that the work area is
completely clean and ready for the tiles to be installed.
