UFC 87 Seek and Destroy
59Why To Check It Out
UFC 87 pit's Welterweight champ George St-Pierre against Jon Fitch, and how this one will come down seems to be a complete mystery. GSP (who I’m obligated to love as a Canadian) seems to have all the talent n the world. He’s a great striker, wrestler, and submission artist. Many people consider him the first true MMA fighter, as he doesn’t come from one specific background. But… and this is a big but… he lost to Matt Sera when Sera got his title shot. I could beat Matt Sera in a fight. GSP seems to be his own worst enemy. When he is on look out, when he’s not look for GSP to get KOed.
John Fitch has won his last 8 fights in the UFC (the longest current streak), and not against bum opponents. He’s a former Perdue wrestler that can bang with the best of them.
Because of John Fitch’s obvious strength at wrestling, if he takes George St. Pierre to the ground it could spell trouble for the champ. If they stay standing up then GSP’s jack-of-all-trades training should give him the edge. Either way it should be a great show.
There are also a few other fights I can’t wait to see. WWE fighter Brock Lesner steps into the UFC Octagon for a 2nd time, this time against Heath “The Texas Crazyhorse” Herring who is most famous for KOing an opponent BEFORE the fight after the opponent kissed him on the lips when they touched gloves. Lightweight contenders Kenny “Kenflow” Florian and Rodger “El Matador” Huerta square up, the winner having a real shot at a title contest. Rob Emerson looks to revive a once promising career, and after a disappointing start in the UFC Check Congo is back, but the insane thing is that fight may not be aired… it had better be lol. For me the undercard, not the main event is what makes UFC 87 worth watching.
