US Cellular Battery Swap Program

The Razr phone was probably the first real fad for cell phones. It was very light and thin and also short lived in popularity as the iphones and texting phones hit the market and personal web phones also became easier for distributers to carry. I am one of those people who felt the draw of the internet and snatched up the Blackberry Pearl to replace my two year old Razr. This was the perfect time to change my plan and my daughter inherited the phone that still worked remarkably well. Since then it has been another year and US Cellular just announced a plan to swap old batteries for new, and for free, sign us up!

The only catch I can see to this new plan is the smaller dealers and kiosks may not have batteries on hand for popular phones or the lesser popular odd phones. We visited the two places in our small town looking for a free battery and neither one had the Razr battery because they simply ran out. The wait is about two days for them to get any, not too bad considering I didn't have time to get there when the flyer first came out. I called our neighboring town with it's larger regional store that runs our little grocery store kiosk, and they do have plenty she informed me. My daughter would be tickled except she has no idea since she is at this moment mad at me, like any teenager her mood is like the wind. When she cheers up a pinch, we might head over there and get ahold of a new battery so she can text to her hearts delight, just as long as it's not at midnight.

Here is a listing of phones that they will swap your dead battery for a fully charged one. I checked the website and it does state on there that not all of the batteries are new, but they are tested and charged before switching with the customer. If you have a new phone and a dead battery sounds like you better not switch just to get one with charge, it could be older than your battery. There is a warranty on your battery that is up to a year old so keep that in mind. The site also states that the battery swap is a program and not a promotion so it is around to stay. This though might keep people from getting a new phone when they renew their contract. Overall US Cellular has a good idea for keeping their customers happy.
