Assassinations and Rumors: JFK, RFK, Marilyn Monroe, Martin Luther King Jr.

In late 1963, some government sources stated that they would not release the true and complete details of John Fitzgerald Kennedy's demise to the general public until every living person form Novembr 22m 1963 was dead.

Later, the Warren Commission Report was released with the statement that this was the true and complete account of the assassination. Not believing this to be the full account and recalling the statement of some government officals (previous paragraph), investigators and film makers have continued to examine the crime from all angles and possible connections for almost half a century.

Marilyn Monroe Murder

A recording of a conversation was brought to light inthe late 1970s and discussed in the 1980s. It was a recorded phone conversation from Marilyn Monroe's bungalow on the night of here death. The conversation was between Peter Lawford (married into the Kennedy clan) and someone from the government. The important line was from Lawford: "She's had her last enema." The tape was confiscated and its whereabouts unknown. However, other incriminating information has surfaced in the film presentation of the evidence for murder (see sidebar link).

Marilyn Monroe used enemas to keep her weight down, much like an eating disorder, and kept the old-style enema bag hanging in her bathroom. Some theorists believe that barbiturates were put into her enema bag becuase they are more quickly absorbed into the colon and intestine than if taken by mouth.

I did not have an opinion about this until I saw a rerun of the animal veterinary show fomr the UK, All Creatures Great and Small. Among its fascinating true stories there was an epidsode in which a sick tiger, under the influence of some substance that prevented his waking. He would soon die and fluids could not be pumped into his stomach fast enough to help. He was up and moving in a short time. He was adminstered strong black lukewarm coffee rectally and was up in a few hours.

A bell rang and I was convinced. Murder was possible in the Monroe case. Barbiturates would not show up in her stomach if this method had been used.

What tangled messes there are in history. In 1963 we still lived in Belgium, I was almost ten when JFK was killed. Everyone came to our apartment to watch the funeral because we were the only family who had a TV in our building. I would take a guess that, that was the first major incident that was televised worldwide at actual time.

Another great Hub. regards Zsuzsy

Great timeline. I'm ashamed to say that at the age of 42, much of this information is new to me. Thanks for the education!

Thank's for the comments! Zsuzsy, it was surreal to watch the funeral procession wasn't it? I was young, but was making notes for the future, thinking, "He cost someone big money." When I grew up I realized it was power and control too and the Cuban embargo got in the Mafia's way in a lot of directions.

What is even more amazing to me is that JFK's father did business with the crime bosses, asked and received money for the JFK presidential campaign from Sam Giacama, who proceeded to feel double-crossed. This is because JFK had a freindship with Giamama's girlfriend and then attorney gen. RFK went after all the organized crime people full title.

According to the books published with records of tape recorded phone conversations authorized by Hoffa and the govt. There were actually 4 shots fired 11/22, and Jackie and Robert suppressed some info by taking the body out of Texas against state law and making directives at Bethesda Naval Hospital during the partial autopsy. There were so many connections between the Kennedys and organized crime, that the family apparently just said "forget it" to a full investagation.

Now if all this is true, and Oswald apparently truly could not get from the 6th floor of the Book Depository (where 4 men had bneen seen looking from windows, 2 from SW corner and 2 from SE corner - ar at least 2 men moved form 1 corner to the other) to the second floor lunch room (where he was seen drinking a Coke) in 90 seconds between about 12:30:30pm (shot time) and 12:32:00 PM and Oswald's rifle had been stolen a couple days before, then Oswald was really the dupe he claimed he was. His uncle had arranged a job for him as an arrand boy with his boss, a crime boss who also had control of Jack Ruby's restaurant in Dallas.

Wonderful, meaty hub. Takes me back to those days starting with JFK's assasination and then there was MLK and RFK--not to mention the 1968 Democratic convention. It felt like the world was going mad.

I've always smelled a rat about the JFK assasination. His father was a real crook and did lots of underhanded stuff to assure his son's election...spread a lot of money around too. It is said that during the 1960 campaign he made a deal with Mayor Daley in Chicago and with the Mafia to deliver Illilnois to JFK. Thus the Mafia thought when JFK was elected that they had a man in the White HOuse who "owed them"- It was rumored at the time that when RFK started turning up the heat on organized crime, JFK was "warned" and told to stop him and that the mafia was behind his assasination--could be. I always thought the Oswald, Jack Ruby thing was fishy. As for MM, no doubt that poor woman was silenced because she knew too much. I'm not usually big on conspiracy theories, but those were turbulent times and something smelled bad. We were all glued to the TV through the whole thing. You could feel the sorrow of the entire American people on the streets. It drew us together. It was our generation's 9/11. Anyone who was alive at the time remembers exactly where he/she was at the moment the news broke.

Thank you very much UMA!

robie2 - I did not know about the Illinois situation, but am not surprised. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Every bit helps.

When we heard the news on Friday 11/22, it was about 2:30 - 3:00pm and JFK was dead some time already. We were in a small vocal music class for kids at school. The announcement came over the PA system and many people broke out crying loudly and some running up and down the halls. A teacher was sad and talked to us about the sadness of politics killing a good man. Still, people were running and screaming and crying. It WAS like 9/11. I also did not understand the running and screaming, because I myself was in stunned silence.

I remember two things very clearly about that year - the JFK assassination and meeting opera star Leontine Price when she visited in the music class.

see what I mean? we all have a clear, personal memory--but I'm glad you got to meet Leontine Price. Now that's a memory to treasure for sure! Yup--look into the Joe Kennedy-Illinois thing.......very interesting.

Thanks robie2, I will read more about the Illinois thing. I began to read a book about Jospeph P. Kennedy in the lirary a few months back and was appalled, really.

Yes, I have a very good memory and a bad memory from 1963. As you say - very clear. It will always be like the end of the world or a nuclear attack to me.

Great Hub Patty interesting, I wonder if we will ever know the truth about what really happened and why.

Hello singpec476! I agree. I think there is more to it than even this reveals. More testimony is being brought forward as old enemies die and the survivors feel free. Or, some could be fabricating some details. No wonder Colin Powell would not run for president! He did not want to get into any sort of intrique.

I was at work on Nov. 22, 1963 when word came that JFK had been shot. I spent the next several days glued to the TV watching the 24/7 coverage. I was shocked beyond belief. But I do not share the belief in all the conspiracy theories that have circulated in books and movies since then. Nothing has been proven -- and more than likely will never be proven. Even Lincoln's assassination is still under the cloud of conspiracy theories. The Kennedys have been marked by many tragedies, but I admire the family. Marilyln Monre herself was a tragic figure, but I do not believe she was murdered. Nevertheless, I found the your hub interesting.

Thank you for your insightful comments, William! I've recently read some articles about Lincoln's assassination and seen a play about John Wilkes Booth that were all very interesting.

As for Marilyn Monroe, I still believe that she was murdered, because of the tape recorded phone conversation of Peter Lawford while he was standing in her bedroom with her dead in bed. I think it would have been more logical of innocencs to call just one number - the police - and leave the phone alone after that. I don't know what history will prove about all this, but I think she was murdered because certain groups believed she 1) could not keep her mouth shut and 2) would not get the facts straight, would gossip, and would cause worse trouble than the truth would bring. However, I think her poor health habits would have done her in before about 1965 anyway.
